As a dermatologist, Dr Andrew sees the worst of it. The patients who thought they were using something gentle. Products that promised to be safe but weren’t. Ingredients that should have worked but flared skin anyway.

That experience shaped how we approached every Bloc formulation.

Here’s the truth: some of the most effective ingredients are also mild irritants, you have to know which risks are worth taking. Some preservatives that keep products stable are the same ones that flare sensitive skin so you have to find alternatives. Fragrance often makes a product feel luxurious but it’s one of the biggest causes of reactions.

Getting the balance right took 30, 40, 50 batches of some formulations. Each one tested over 3, 5, 7 months for stability. Years of trial and error before a product was ready.

Not a shortcut. Not a trend. The kind of formulation that only comes from years of watching skin react in real clinics and knowing what to leave out.

Skincare in priority order, top to bottom:

01 · SPF daily, non-negotiable. The most impactful step in your routine by a long way.
02 · Cleanse once or twice a day, gentle.
03 · Moisturise and pick the right weight for your skin and the season.
04 · Treat with something like a vitamin C or whatever fits your concern.
05 · Extras eg masks, exfoliants, devices. Nice to have. Not essential.

Get the top three right and 80% of your skin’s needs are already met.
If your routine is missing one of the top three, start there.
