Tala Thrive
A mental health and wellness platform helping you thrive, not just survive. #ThriveNotJustSurvive

Expressions of interest are now open. 🧡
We’re looking for five people in Wyndham City to take part in a community pilot exploring how culturally responsive care affects mental health outcomes compared with generic support.
If you’re selected, you’ll receive three coaching or therapy sessions at no cost, booked through the Tala Thrive app with a registered practitioner matched to you.
What we ask in return: a short survey before and after, and a 1:1 conversation at the end with our supporting researchers. Around five hours in total, across roughly three months. Everything you submit will be anonymised. Names and personal information will never be releaved publicly.
We’re after a mix of cultural backgrounds, ages and migration journeys, because that’s what the pilot is testing. It’s a step toward building the evidence for larger, sustained programmes that reflect this community.
👉🏾 Not sure if it’s for you? Come to the info session first.
✍🏽 Ready to go? Submit your expression of interest.

Part 2: why leave a career to build something from scratch? 🧡
“There are days where I question my life decisions.”
That’s the honest answer. Building anything meaningful comes with those days.
But Sonia Kaurah didn’t leave to escape something. She left because she wanted to make an impact, and the platform she kept looking for didn’t exist yet.
So she built it.
Culturally competent care shouldn’t be a nice-to-have. It should already be available.

what’s the thing you’d build because you know it should exist?

Some of us grew up with gaps in our own culture. Then got judged for not knowing it.
If that’s been sitting on you for years, it’s worth talking to someone about. Preferably someone who doesn’t need the family history explained before they can help. 🧡
👉🏽 Find a practitioner who gets it. Link in bio.
Tell us the tradition that made your partner go “wait, WHAT?” 😂👇🏾

On an Indian driving licence, there’s a line you won’t find on an Australian one: a space for whose you are. Daughter of, next to your father’s name. Once you marry, it becomes wife of.
It’s a small field, but it says something big. In the rules a lot of us grew up with, a daughter isn’t counted as settled by becoming independent. She’s counted as settled by getting married.
So the worry at home doesn’t ease as you build a career, a home, your own money. It grows, because every good year is another year you’re still unmarried.
That’s why you can run your whole life and still feel like a burden. You’re not behind. You’re being measured against a finish line you never agreed to 🧡
👉🏽 Match with a practitioner who already understands.
None of this felt unusual until I moved abroad 🌍

It’s National Wellness Month - and looking after yourself abroad isn’t the same as it was back home. 🧡
The usual advice doesn’t cover the homesickness that hits at 2 am, or the guilt that comes with every dollar you spend.
Swipe through for the reminders worth saving. 👆🏾
None of it is weakness. It’s simply what it looks like to build a life somewhere new, on your own terms.
And when you’re ready for support that already understands all of it - we’re here!
Care that already gets your context isn’t a luxury, it’s the whole point 🧡

In many POC families, “I love you” wasn’t always said out loud 🧡
For many of us, love was shown through small acts of care: sometimes practical, sometimes hilarious 🤣, and sometimes so familiar that we didn’t realise they were expressions of deep love until much later.
What did we miss? The comments are officially a safe space for every niche brown family experience 🏡 👇🏾
