OCTOBER ON BTN ⚡🎶

September was about remembering who you are.

October seems to have become about connection — the people we love, the people we lose, the people who drive us slightly insane, and the pieces of ourselves we discover through knowing them.

Across this month’s 12 featured tracks, connection takes a lot of different forms.

There’s the desperate need for honesty when love is ending in Tones and I — “Mercy”, and the regret of wondering whether things could have turned out differently in Ally Row — “Adeline.”

NiickC — “Where Have You Gone” sits inside the uncertainty of somebody suddenly feeling absent, while LISA — “SaWaDiKa” comes from almost the opposite direction — loudly owning identity, confidence and where you come from.

Then life changes shape. Drax Project — “DADA” finds a completely new sense of purpose through becoming a parent, while Corrella — “Not I” plants its feet and refuses to quietly surrender what matters.

October isn't all introspection either. VANITY — “LSD” dives headfirst into love, s*x, diamonds and delicious excess, while Victony — “SLICK” brings flirtation, swagger and a reminder that sometimes music can simply feel bloody good.

Closer to home, WA gets its moment too. Lachy Dods — “Cheesy” asks whether simply saying I love you has somehow become too much, while The Arcade Lights — “Miss Universe” takes a considerably less romantic look at attraction, appearances and the person behind the image.

And finally, two songs that bring the month back to what connection can mean across a lifetime.

Vika & Linda — “Little Baby” welcomes new life with love, culture, ancestry and belonging.

Mark Wilkinson — “Goodbye” stands at the other end — trying to understand how you let go when someone has been part of everything.

Twelve songs. Twelve very different stories.

But somewhere between hello and goodbye, falling in love and letting go, finding our people and finding ourselves, they all seem to return to the same thing:

We leave pieces of ourselves in the people we love.

And we carry pieces of them wherever we may go ❤️‍🔥

Welcome to October on BTN.

Apparently Uncle Tatt occasionally appears singing on BTN now too… 😂🎤

And no, I’m not wearing my usual video uniform — AKA pyjamas... I always forget to take photos or videos when I’m actually out working, but this is probably a slightly more accurate representation of the amount of skin I usually flash 😂

Anyway… another round of Tones And I, this time Home To Me.

The singing? Just me enjoying myself and continuing to find my voice.

The ulterior motive? 👀

Tones… you’re coming to WA, BTN wants to be there, and I’m apparently going to keep singing your songs until somebody on your team notices me 😂⚡

Let Uncle Tatt and BTN Music Club come along as media and share the WA experience 📸🎶

⚡ THE ARCADE LIGHTS — LIVE AT THE INDIAN OCEAN HOTEL 🎸

What happens when the crowd gets smaller but you've still got a show to play?

You bloody play it.

The Arcade Lights closed out a huge night at the Indian Ocean Hotel launching The Path Less Travelled — and when the crowd thinned later in the evening, these guys didn't dial anything back.

They worked the room, took the music beyond the stage and gave the people who stayed a show worth staying for.

But this was only one part of the night...

🎶 Three EP launches
⚡ Four live acts
📸 Two independent photographers

The full BTN live review is now up, featuring The Arcade Lights, Lachie Dods, Tom Reagan and special guests Lights Out Band.

Because it doesn't matter whether you're playing to hundreds or a handful.

You turn up. You play. You support each other. And you keep going!⚡

P.s. Sorry Im running behind on gigs and articles - I'm catchin up!😅

A little - Mercy — Tones and I 🎤⚡

Apparently singing to regulate my health may p**s the neighbours off enough to come down and abuse me for it…

But I spent 20+ years barely using this voice. I’m not silencing it again. 😅

So I’ll keep singing. Keep finding my voice. And keep doing what I need to do to get through the rough days. 💙

Besides… after years of being told I'm not good enough, I’m actually starting to like this voice ive grown into😂🎤

P.S. Tones… you’re coming to Perth 👀 BTN Music Club wants to be there with you (behind a camera😅). Consider this me not-so-subtly putting it out into the universe😂⚡🎶

🎵MUSICIANS—I NEED YOUR HELP⚡

A little reminder for all the musicians following BTN Music Club and Uncle Tatt...

Creating a musician profile on BTN is completely FREE.

No subscription. No listing fee. No pay-to-play.

And right now, joining genuinely means more to me than you probably realise.

I've been building BTN because I want it to become something that can support independent musicians without asking musicians to keep reaching into their own pockets.

Today BTN took another little step forward. I've been accepted into a business-support program and will soon be working with a business coach to figure out how I can make BTN financially sustainable — while keeping the core support for musicians FREE.

But to prove that something like BTN is worth investing in, supporting and helping grow...

I NEED YOU 🫵💙

If you're a musician and you've been following what I'm doing, please take a few minutes and create your free BTN musician profile.

Add your music. Tell people who you are.

Become part of the community - even if your not a musician you can still join and support BTN!

Even if you don't need anything from BTN today, your presence helps me demonstrate that musicians actually want a platform like this to exist.

The bigger this community becomes, the stronger my case becomes when I'm knocking on doors looking for funding, partnerships and support to turn BTN into what I know it could be - a place and a way to promote the hard work YOU do!

I'm trying to do my bit....

Now I need a little help from you 💙⚡

Join BTN Music Club.
Create your musician profile.
It's FREE.

And genuinely — thank you for helping me try to make this something. 🎶

⚡ A brief BTN transmission from somewhere beyond reliable internet…

Uncle Tatt has actually been busy — out at gigs, taking photos, listening to live music and generally collecting far more content than he’s managed to get online. 🎶📸

So yes… there’s plenty more coming.

Unfortunately, BTN HQ is currently operating on NBN satellite internet, which appears to be dependent on several highly technical factors — including cloud cover, planetary alignment and whether the donkey uphill has farted recently.... 🫏💨📡

At the moment, uploading anything larger than a strongly worded text message is proving ambitious.

But the gigs have been happening.
The camera has been busy.
The stories are coming.

As soon as the donkey cooperates and the satellite gods reconnect us to civilisation…

stay tuned. ⚡🎶

YOU ARE MORE THAN WHAT SOMEONE ELSE PUTS YOU THROUGH⚡

September's final pairing takes us from one of the month's most confronting songs to probably its most unapologetically fun.

“Receipts” — CYNTA challenges the questions so often directed at someone who's been harmed — what they wore, what they drank, what they did — when the question should always be about the actions of the person responsible. There are things we can learn from our experiences. But somebody else's decision to hurt us isn't something we should have to turn into a reason to blame ourselves.

And then comes “Fendi 2” — Rakhim, Khim & ayvo1o. No analysing. No searching for profound meaning. Just attitude, confidence, excess and a beat that gives us permission to turn everything else off for a minute.

It's an unusual pairing, but maybe there's something important in that contrast.

We can acknowledge what hurt us without allowing it to become everything we are.

We can demand accountability.
We can refuse to carry the blame.

And we can still laugh, dance, be ridiculous, feel confident and enjoy being alive.

Sometimes music helps us face the heavy stuff.

And sometimes it helps us put it down for a while ⚡

And that's where September's journey ends at BTN Music Club.

YOU CAN KNOW YOUR POWER AND STILL QUESTION EVERYTHING ⚡

September’s next pairing sits somewhere between certainty and doubt.

“Salem Witch” — Lilith Max is fierce, defiant and unwilling to be silenced — reclaiming the kind of knowledge, independence and outspoken power that history has so often tried to punish.

Then “Wonder” — Spencer Sutherland takes us somewhere far less certain. Into those late-night questions, the overthinking, the what ifs, and all the things we desperately wish we could know for sure.

On the surface, they couldn't feel much more different.

But perhaps real strength isn't about having every answer.

We can speak up and still have doubts.
We can know our worth and still wonder.
We can be powerful without being fearless.

You don't have to silence the questions inside you to trust the voice that's finally learned how to speak.

September continues at BTN Music Club.

SOME THINGS WE RELEASE. SOME THINGS CHANGE US FOREVER. ⚡

There are moments in life that divide everything into a before and an after.

Sometimes that happens because we finally release something we've been carrying — an illusion, an expectation, a version of life that simply isn't ours anymore.

And sometimes it happens because something new arrives and suddenly the world looks completely different.

That's where September's next two songs meet.

“Illusions” — Grace Kinstler and “Sleepwalking” — Skinny Living approach change from opposite directions: one finds freedom in letting go, while the other captures the almost dreamlike wonder of discovering a love powerful enough to change the world around you.

And perhaps that's part of moving forward.

We don't have to hold onto everything we've known to honour what it meant.

And opening ourselves to something new doesn't erase everything that came before it.

Sometimes we release.
Sometimes we receive.

Either way, we become someone slightly different on the other side.
September continues at BTN Music Club.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BECOME SOMEBODY ELSE TO BE ENOUGH ⚡

September’s third pairing looks at two different ways we can disappear from ourselves.

“Shell” — MINOE comes from that place of comparison — looking at other people’s bodies, lives, confidence or success and wondering why we can’t somehow trade ourselves in for something better.

Then “My Mouth (la la la)” — ISHAN takes that same pressure into the social world: changing what we say, how we act, even parts of who we are, because maybe this version of us will finally be easier for somebody else to like.

They’re different struggles, but they lead to the same question:

How much of ourselves are we supposed to change before we finally decide we were worthy all along?

Growth is good. Change can be good.
But neither should require us to hate the person we started as.

Maybe the goal isn’t becoming somebody else.

Maybe it’s getting comfortable enough to stay ourselves.

September continues at BTN Music Club.
