Louise (Pelvic Physio) and Alaina (Exercise Physiologist) from Hug Pelvic Physio sit down for another round of “Agree or Disagree”.

Today’s topic:
“Running is bad for the pelvic floor.”
It’s not a simple yes or no and their discussion reflects exactly that.

While there are some anatomical differences between men and women, the pelvic floor muscles themselves have many of the same important jobs: supporting the pelvic organs, helping with bladder and bowel control, contributing to sexual function, and working alongside the core.

That’s why pelvic floor dysfunction can affect both men and women (and why pelvic health physiotherapy isn’t just for one gender).

Different anatomy. Similar muscles. Similar goals.

Persistent or unexplained changes should always be assessed by a health professional.

Early awareness saves lives 💛

Bowel habits vary widely between people.

What matters most is your baseline and noticing when things change from it.
