Made it to Wilcannia despite some negative feedback not to go.
Stayed at Warrawong on the Darling tourist park. What a lovely place to stay!! The billabong sites looking out over the water are just beautiful and well spaced out. The camp kitchen with the best views over the water, the managers put a cheese and snack platter in the camp kitchen fridge every night for everyone to enjoy. Theres a lovely little walk you can do and the cafe in town is very cute with lovely staff and food. The police came once to do their routine check which is normal. It was peaceful and I just loved it. We had a toddler with us and lots of space for her. The managers are friendly and had a great chat with them.
Highly recommend, don’t just drive through. Break up your trip and stay.

Hi I am back! And things just got a bit worse, so our van was fixed at Broken Hill (U Bolt replaced and new tyre) we did 460km yesterday and 160km today and noticed that the drum was very hot to touch. We had a service before we left so not the bearings but could this situation cause a bearing to become a problem?

If you're heading along the Murray Valley Highway between Echuca and Nathalia I have a beautiful spot for you!
McCoys Bridge crosses the Goulburn River, on the north west side you will see a large area suitable for vehicles of all sizes, a roadwork gravel dump that has tables, chairs and wood fired BBQs. It's a bit noisy though with vehicles crossing the bridge.

Now, what a lot don't know is....
If you follow the road past the farm house you will find any number of spots to camp along the river. Fishing and peaceful settings. We had a permanent camp here for a few weeks in the mid 90s.
There are no amenities so it's really only suitable for self contained. If you don't have an on board loo there's plenty of trees BUT please be thoughtful and bury it along with the paper.

You can have a fire weather permitting but please ensure it's completely out before leaving. When we got here a couple of days ago there was a large charred log on a fire that appeared to be out. During the night we had strong winds and found it burning with a good flame in the morning. I took a couple of photos a few hours later to make people aware!

Dumaresq NSW ....72 hour stay...beautiful and quiet...kids playground, BBQ areas, toilets. A 3km walking track around dam...if here in summer and game you may find wild Blackberry bushes along the way. Turn-around points available. No dogs allowed though...
