A fair bit happened in September, and hardly any of it in a treatment room. Swipe to see what we were up to ➡️
Karen went to Sydney for the Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards thechampionawards, where we were named a finalist in Beauty Services. Although not winning this time, she came home with her glass full anyway. She spent most of it at a table with friends from Bliss Day Spa Bliss Day Spa Caringbah, Temple Day Spa Temple Day Spa and Illuminate Skin and Body Illuminate Skin & Body.
Keanah and Pippa spent an afternoon downstairs at Cedar Recovery Studio Cedar Recovery Studio - Shellharbour. Steam, then the sauna, then a very quiet room at the end of it. They are good neighbours, and worth knowing about for when the stress of everyday life gets to you. 💚
We won the Phorest Software Phorest Client Experience Award. It runs on twelve consecutive months of client ratings, March 2025 through to February 2026, with a minimum of sixty reviews behind it. A full year of 5 ⭐️ means the world to us, thank you. A special shoutout to Keanah, collected more reviews than anyone else in the clinic. 👏
Our Kayla has started maternity leave and is due very soon. ❤️ We will share newborn photos once mumma and bubba are ready.
The team also ended up around one long table at Karen’s. She has said before that her love language is cooking for the people she loves, and in September everyone found out what she meant. Good food, a few drinks, and nobody in a hurry to leave. 🤗

Most people can tell when their skin is reacting to a stressful stretch. It just rarely announces itself as stress.
It turns up as a flare that will not settle, or healing that is taking noticeably longer than it used to. Sometimes it is only that a product you have used for a year has started to sting.
The barrier is usually what gives way first. Once it does, everything stings a bit more and calms a bit more slowly.
Sleep is doing more work than your serum, which is not what anyone wants to hear. Skin does a great deal of its repair overnight, and broken sleep is one of the most common threads behind a flare that will not shift.
We treat the skin. We cannot treat the stress. What we can do is support the barrier while life is loud and make sure the routine is not adding to it. The rest belongs with you, and sometimes with your GP.

A little R&R for the girls 🤍
Our team spends every day looking after everyone else, so sometimes it's nice to take a little time to pause, recharge and reset, so we can continue to give the best of ourselves.
You might have noticed Cedar Recovery Studio on the downstairs corner of our building, and we were lucky enough to pop in for a little team recharge.
Such a beautiful space to pause, unwind and reconnect with yourself, and for a little while, forget about everything else going on around you.
Thank you Jess from Cedar's Recovery for being so welcoming and creating such a gorgeous space right downstairs from us. We loved our little reset! ✨
If you're looking for a space to pause, recharge and reconnect with yourself, Cedar Recovery Studio is definitely worth checking out. 🤍

Stressed skin often stings, flushes and stays reactive even when the routine has not changed. The barrier is usually the first thing to give way, and raised cortisol has been linked with one that holds moisture less well and calms more slowly.
Most of the barrier's rebuilding happens overnight. Melatonin helps time that repair, and cortisol is meant to sit at its lowest while it runs, so broken or late sleep shortens the window the barrier has to work in.
Which is why the two changes worth making sit at opposite ends of the day. The last hour before bed: dimmer, cooler, darker, screens down. And daylight early, because it helps set that evening's melatonin.
Our therapists are trained in this way of reading a client, through the Wholeness Medicine work of Pia Kynoch, who is speaking at What Women Want this year on Sunday 25 October. It is why a consult here asks about your day and not only your routine.
