Forest Garden Soaps

When I was planning my Strawbale build, I had been watching an American television program for years called 'Building off the grid'.

I saw many examples of Groundscrews being used for piers on different builds, but in Australia it seemed like a different story and even though I was sure it must be used here, I personally hadn't heard of anyone using this construction technique.

I was certain this was how I wanted to construct my piers and it also provided a great termite management system which is required here in Australia. A minimum of 400mm clearance from the highest point of the ground to the Bearers.

This solution did it all.

Easy access and install onsite, longevity, no concrete, very little ground disruption which was also important as I had a large tree nearby, worked with one of the most challenging soil types, and aligned with my 'Work smarter not harder' thinking.

I found a company called Groundscrews Australia and was amazed to find they were only 20km from my build site.

The wonderful people there were amazing to work with. Nothing was too difficult, they were so efficient and helpful. When the day came to install the Groundscrews, it was done in less than a day with really precise levels!

3 years later and I'm so happy with my decision and know I will be saying the same thing in many years to come. Thanks Fred and Franqui!

Mother of Herbs has so many uses and is one of the easiest plants to propagate and grow. We have it throughout our Forest Garden. Just break off a stalk, find a new spot and push it into the ground. Low effort, low maintenance gardening.

On the home stretch now, I've been working on the posts and timber handrails, made from Camphor Laurel branches that I had pruned from the tree behind The Shed a few years ago.

I'm thankful for some sunny winter days to get the stain on the timber!

Our Calendula products are wonderfully gentle. Calendula is a plant that can be used to treat skin conditions as well as having many other uses.
I use it as my first option in many situations but if I need something more powerful, Radium W**d - also known as Petty Spurge or Milkweed, has an amazing effect on Sun Spots and Skin Cancers.

I have personally used it many times and been thrilled with the results. I've included a news segment about Radium W**d below.
