Notice to clients!

Exciting news that I’m heading over to Europe to have some classical dressage training and visiting my home country of Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Can’t wait to see my Scottish family/friends again, and to bring back some new skills 🐎✨

Spaces are very limited over the next two weeks before I leave, and I will be taking bookings now for August when I’m back!

Thanks everyone for your patience while I take a pause from lessons, and routine bodywork appointments will be scheduled before I leave for my first week back 🫶

Huge thank you to all those who nominated me for the Equine Therapist of the Year award - feeling very honoured 🥹

My journey in this profession hasn’t been an easy one. Less than a week after completing my 3-year Equine Shiatsu diploma, I broke my arm (amongst other things 🙈) and needed shoulder surgery. Despite a difficult recovery, I went on to study Equine Sports Massage and passed my exams just a few months after my second shoulder surgery!

Thank you to the Equine Therapies Association of Australia Inc for running these awards to further recognise therapists in Australia for all that they do. I’m so grateful to be doing this as my job, after everything I’ve been through to get here I don’t take a single day of it for granted! Just to be nominated means the world to me 🤍

Piper owned by .bailey713 having her first ever bodywork session at 8 months old 🧡

You don’t have to wait until your horse has been started under saddle to get them bodywork - foals and young horses can benefit too!

Bodywork sessions for young horses have many advantages: supporting healthy development, improving body awareness, encouraging positive handling experiences, and identifying subtle issues before they become larger problems 🙌

Recently, I had the privilege of participating in my third equine dissection alongside this incredible group of equine professionals 🤍

There is something truly humbling about being entrusted with the opportunity to learn from a horse in this way, deepening our understanding of the body and the role each structure plays in movement and function.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone involved for sharing their knowledge and passion. Experiences like this reinforce my commitment to ongoing education and help me continue providing the highest standard of care for horses and their owners.

Learning alongside such dedicated professionals was an absolute privilege as always, and these experiences continue to influence and refine my approach to bodywork 🤍

Notice to clients!

From 26th May to 9th of June I will be away 🗓️

I am attending my 3rd equine dissection, and then going on a belated honeymoon trip to Japan 🥹

Regular lessons will be taking a pause for the two weeks and bodywork sessions will be scheduled around this.

I will still be able to reply to online messages (social media/email) during this time however will be unavailable via phone/text.

I’m almost fully booked for May now with just a few spots left for bodywork locally around the Sunshine Coast but I am taking bookings for June when I’m back 💌

Priority will be given to those who have already messaged to request a session - if I haven’t got back to you please send another message as they sometimes get lost when I get so many messages a day on multiple different platforms 😅

Thanks everyone! 🤍🐴

Horses read far more than our cues, they also read our nervous system.

When we slow our breath, soften our body, and regulate ourselves, it gives them something steady to connect to, especially the anxious ones. Our breathing can influence rhythm, relaxation, and regulation.

This session with Muffin was a good example that sometimes the best thing we can do (especially if they are anxious about a task) is invite the horse to check in with us, take a deep breath, and re-regulate before asking again. I noticed when I invited her to check in, she was holding some tension in her body and taking shallower breaths as a result, so I wanted to take a moment to create space for her to soften and breathe before we continued.
With my exhale, my body softens and helps create conditions for regulation.

Try this during moments of tension or exhaling on a downward transition (one of my favourites to teach!) to encourage your horse to soften with you 🤍

Thanks to Muffin’s amazing owner Kirsty for allowing me to share this moment!

Many clients have asked me: “Is it possible to do the straddle pole exercise ridden?”
I’ll let and Aries answer that 🤩

It’s difficult but if your horse has good proprioception and can activate their deep hip stabilising muscles then it’s doable 🙌

Make sure you practice on the ground first as these two have done before attempting it ridden!
