The man in his 30s was struck by a blue Volkswagen Golf which was travelling southbound on Kings Way just after 3am on Friday.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, Victoria Police said.

All outbound lanes of Kings Way are closed at Albert Rd, and traffic is being diverted via St Kilda Rd or Punt Rd, according to VicTraffic.

Police probe mysterious incident after burn victim found
Detectives are investigating the cause of a burn victim’s serious injuries in Melbourne.

Police found a 49-year-old man suffering serious burns in the rear passenger seat of a white Ford Ranger on the Monash Fwy, near the Warrigal Rd exit, in Chadstone.

He was hospitalised about 6.50am on Thursday.

Police arrested the 37-year-old woman believed to have been driving the car, taking her into custody on an unrelated matter, and later releasing her.

It is unclear how the man came to suffer the burns, and police are now appealing for public assistance amid efforts to understand the incident.

Anyone who may have captured the incident with a dashcamera is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Coroner’s findings released after teen killed in shark attack
A Queensland coroner has released their findings after a deadly bull shark attack.

Charlize Zmuda, 17, was killed by a shark while swimming with her best friend at Woorim Beach at Bribie Island in February last year.

She died instantly from injury to her upper right limb, coroner Carol Lee found.

Lee said that a further inquest would not be in the public interest

The tragic attack occurred just one day after a drone trial had wrapped up in the area.

The coroner’s findings have brought some closure to Charlize’s grieving family, who have been searching for answers since the devastating incident.

The family says the findings have helped them come to terms with the tragedy.

Student killed in mistaken identity shooting laid to rest
An innocent Sydney man killed in a mistaken identity shooting has been laid to rest.

Family and friends gathered to farewell Marco Tapia, 23, at a funeral service in Hoxton Park on Thursday.

He was studying engineering at UTS, and living in a Glen Alpine home, where three unknown men forced entry and killed him on September 1.

Police have confirmed the killing has all the hallmarks of an underworld hit.

Two teenagers, aged 14 and 16, have now been charged with murder over their involvement.

But detectives are still looking for three “main offenders” who committed the deadly home invasion.

Police blasted “coward” offshore crime bosses for the rise in young, “clumsy” offenders, during a press conference about the incident on Thursday.

Read more about the ongoing investigation into Tapia’s death here.

Charges laid after body of baby boy found
A woman has been charged after a newborn baby was found dead in Sydney.

The baby’s body was discovered unclothed and inside a plastic bag in a bin outside a unit block on Harrow Rd in Auburn on August 31.

It is believed the infant had been in the bin for up to 36 hours before his body was found by a woman who police said was traumatised by the discovery.

A 24-year-old woman, believed to be the mother, was arrested on Thursday and, after being taken to hospital and later released, has now been charged.

She will face one count of mother alone conceal birth by disposing body.

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on October 27.
