There’s a lot more happening inside a bottle of floral water than you might think.

At Cocoon Apothecary, we use traditional steam distillation to capture the aromatic compounds found naturally in plants. As steam passes through flowers such as rose and orange blossom, it carries volatile aromatic compounds with it. Once cooled, the distillate separates into two botanical ingredients: concentrated essential oil and delicate floral hydrosol.

We use these hydrosols as the botanical water base of our facial toners.
Rose Dew Facial Toner is made with organic rose hydrosol, while Orange Blossom Facial Toner is made with organic neroli hydrosol. They replenish the skin with water after cleansing while bringing the subtle aromatic character of the flowers into your skincare ritual.

Ever wonder how flowers become skincare?

Rose water and orange blossom water aren’t simply water scented with flowers. They’re hydrosols—botanical waters created during the same steam-distillation process used to make essential oils.

As steam passes through rose petals or orange blossoms, it carries their delicate aromatic compounds into a condenser. Once cooled back into liquid, two ingredients emerge:

Essential oil — the concentrated, oil-loving aromatic fraction.
Hydrosol — the delicate aromatic botanical water.

We use these beautiful floral distillates as the foundation of two of our facial toners:

Rose Dew— organic rose hydrosol for soft, dewy hydration.
Orange Blossom — organic neroli hydrosol for fresh, lightweight hydration.
