Wish this was for people being evacuated from water crisis and wildfires. Humane Canada has been trying to rectify this. But the government and motel owners aren't easy to work with. I know band members that stay behind so they can stay with their companion animals. If there is anyone.... it's a hired person from another band.... who is supposed to be an animal welfare person... and the fire fighters. Wish people knew more about this fact.

Thank goodness!!! Finally trapped the last one from the 2 litters. This would be 10 kittens that would have reproduced.

I thought I had gotten all of them but found out there was a straggler. Now I don't have to worry about a life of pain and suffering.

Now just the one mom left to TNR. She's very intelligent and evading the trap. I doubt I'll get her today. I'll try sardines next time.

I so hope I can trap her before another litter. 🙏🙏🙏 She maybe pregnant already. Ugh 😫

Remember this when you're taking your dog to a shelter. Ask questions.

PSA: We got a new name… but we’re still the same weird dog people.

After a lot of behind-the-scenes work (and a few extra cups of coffee), we’re officially moving forward as Eddy’s Nomads Dog Rescue.

New name. Same crew. Same mission. Same passion for helping dogs. Same awesome resources. We’re just giving the logo a bit of a workout while we update everything.

Was this the route we originally planned? Nope.

But sometimes life hands you a detour, and instead of sitting in traffic, you roll the windows down, turn the music up, and keep driving.

We’re choosing to put our energy where it belongs—into the dogs, our community, and building something we’re incredibly proud of.

So if you see a mix of old logos, new logos, old emails, new emails… don’t panic. We’re working through the changes, and we’ll get there. Bear with us while everything catches up.

Thank you for sticking with us through this next chapter. We truly have the best community behind us, and we can’t wait to show you what’s coming next.

Same heart. Same people. Same rescue.

Just a fresh name and a whole lot of excitement.

Welcome to Eddy’s Nomads Dog Rescue.

One out of 2 was fixed today! Still need to trap one of hers. She was already pregnant with 6 more. I would go crazy if she had another 6 I'd have to trap.

I'm so done!!! This was the sixth try. For her last. 10 kittens between the 2 moms. This is the lo gesture it's taken me to trap a couple litters.

I don't get paid. It's out of my pocket.

Thank you to Janet George for helping. It was such a surprise.

Our band doesn't pay anything.

I used to say they don't have money. But there has to be a point when they need to help.

He made it. 💗 One of the dogs from severe infrastructure and water .

Band members have been displaced to 5 locations since January. They have been evacuated to Niagara Falls, Kapukasing, Timmins, Kingston and Thunder Bay!!!

Such a heartbreaking situation for band members and their pets. I don't know if pets will eventually be reunited.

I know one of the founders of Baladi & Sled Dog Rescue of Ontario inquired about reunions. I don't believe there was a direct answer, other than the organizing rescue having permission. BSDRO simply opened their rescue to help.

I would be heartbroken to lose everything, including a beloved companion. 💔

DISGUSTING!!! 😡😡😡

I agree with this comment.

"It utterly sickens me to see some of the totally inept people that somehow decide they want to own dogs along with the insane things they then do with them."

“Yesterday’s Fourth of July parade in Lincoln, Montana, took place in temperatures around 70–74°F with 49–52% humidity. While those conditions may seem comfortable for people, they still raise serious questions when dogs exploited in the dog sledding industry are asked to pull on pavement during a summer parade.

The footage shared from the event is concerning. It appears to show dogs panting heavily, and at times some dogs appear to be dragged rather than moving willingly. In the comments on the original post, other mushers, dog trainers, and canine behaviour professionals also expressed concern, with several stating that the dogs appeared to be showing signs of distress.

These concerns deserve to be taken seriously—not dismissed.

The sheriff’s deputies and other public officials who attended the parade were in a unique position to recognize when an animal’s well being might be at risk. We hope that, in the future, better judgment is exercised before allowing demonstrations in summer parades. Public events should showcase animals responsibly and ethically and that is not normally possible because putting them on display is always prioritized over their well being and if there is reasonable concern that dogs are struggling, intervention should be considered rather than simply watching it unfold.

The well being of these dogs should always come before tradition or entertainment.”
