Nearly a year ago one of closest friends and I stopped showing up for each other.
We had been close for years.
The kind of friends who text every day,
Went grocery shopping together,
Knew everything about each other,
And showed up for all the big moments.
But somewhere along the way we started growing in different directions.
I was building my family, and focusing on my goals.
I stopped going out to the bars,
I stopped prioritizing the wrong things,
And she was in a completely different season of her life of finding herself again and embracing her new freedom of being single.
Slowlyβ¦. we just drifted.
I was sad about the loss of a friendship..
Then someone told me about the βTrain Theoryβ and everything shifted.
Your life is a train.
Every person you meet boards at some point.
Some people ride for one stop,
Some ride for years,
And a rare few stay on for the whole journey.
But hereβs the part that changed everything for meβ¦ when someone gets off at their stop..
Thatβs not a failure,
Thatβs just their stop.
The friend I mentioned? She was one of the most important passengers Iβve ever had.
She just wasnβt riding to the same destination.
And the seat she left open?
is filled by some of the most incredible women I know now.
People who are building things,
People who are dreaming out loud,
People who are pushing me to show up bigger in my goals and my life.
You donβt have to hold onto every passenger to honor the ride you had together.
Let people off at their stop,
Trust who boards next,
And keep the train moving.
