Transients by Karel Doruyter.
A wide, atmospheric landscape capturing the fleeting movement of light and weather along the Pacific coast. Subtle surface textures ground the work in a physical, tactile presence.
100 percent of proceeds go to Karel, we are delighted to be a complimentary gallery for him.
To purchase his work or for information on his final show contact his daughter Tamar Doruyter (250) 714 9436
Central to Karel Doruyter work is a distinctive mixed media process, including a uniquely developed acrylic buildup technique that creates subtle topographies within the surface itself.
He will no longer be producing new work due to declining health.
What remains is a finite and deeply considered body if art, representing a life spent in careful observation of the natural world.

Karel Doruyter was born in Rotterdam during WW II and immigrated to Canada in 1953. Karel developed a lifelong relationship with landscapes shaped by both study and exploration. His time working in design, boat building and marine surveying informed a painting practice grounded in observation and precision.
Now retired due to declining health, his work stands as a finite and enduring legacy. If you are interested in collecting Karel Doruyter art work please contact his daughter Tamar Doruyter 250 714 9436.
