Sparkling Cranberry is made for this time of year.
This soap sold out quick last year, and with one sniff, it’s easy to see why! Bright cranberry, pomegranate and green apple mingle with ch*****ne bubbles, citrus and a touch of rosewater for a fragrance that feels festive (it’s not just amount the pumpkins!)
With Thanksgiving only a week away, it makes a lovely little hostess gift — something handmade, beautiful and useful to bring along when somebody else has spent the week planning and prepping and pulling it altogether.
A small way to say thank you.

A hope and a prayer.
That's how soap pouring feels. I'm never really certain what a soap will look like when I pour it into the mold. Once the oils and the lye and the colour and the fragrances is all mixed together, I put my trust in my experience, in the thousands of bars that have come before. I observe and adjust if things move faster or slower than I anticipate, and I pivot when that happens.
While a hanger swirl is my go to technique - and it creates some really gorgeous swirls of colour - I wanted to see if using a skewer for the final swirl would have a similar effect.
The result wasn't quite the same. The skewer swirl moved less soap around than the hanger tool, resulting in an interesting blend of swirled and unswirled (is that a word?) colours.
I think it would stick with the hanger tool, but it's fun to experiment.
What was never in any doubt was the fragrance of this soap! Not only is it a personal favourite of mine, it sold out QUICK last year, so I knew I needed to bring it back this fall. With notes of ch*****ne and prosecco, cranberry and orange zest, it is the perfect fruity companion for fall.

A little change for our littlest bath bombs!
The outside may look different, but inside of each bag are the same teeny tiny bath bombs, ready to add a sprinkle of magic to your next bath.
And yes… Fruit Loops is still here (and Grape, Pineapple Mango, Watermelon, and Lavender Lullabye too!). Which one is your favourite?
One little scheduling note: there won’t be a Metcalfe Farmers' Market next weekend because of the Metcalfe Fair. But you don’t have to wait until the following market to stock up! Online orders are always available, with free local delivery and affordable shipping across Canada.

This might be my favourite part of the soap bar.
Maybe it’s because it’s the part I have the most control over. The swirl inside is hidden until the soap is cut, but on the top, I can really play with colour and texture and create something completely different with each batch.
Only a small part of this design makes it onto each individual bar, and revealing the swirl inside — finally getting to see if it came out the way I planned — is quite a thrill. But honestly, creating these swirled tops is a joy in itself, and that alone makes all the effort worth it.
Bunchberry has been our best-selling soap once again this year, and it will be back in stock online tomorrow and at the Metcalfe Farmers' Market this Saturday, 9–1.
If you’re looking for something fun to do with the family on the last long weekend of summer, come spend the morning at the market. There’s plenty of yummy local produce, delicious food, handmade goods, and Canadian-made products to discover — and it’s a pretty great way to ease into the back-to-school routine, too.
What’s your favourite farmers’ market find?
A little finishing touch, and these beauties are ready for their comeback.
Meadowlilly and Sora Handmade Soaps are getting bevelled before heading into the next restock. This small step helps the bar glide smoothly in your hand from the first wash
Two beautiful floral-inspired scents, each with its own character, named after streets in our neighbourhood:
Meadowlilly — delicate lily of the valley and lilac
Sora — cotton blossom and bright mandarin orange, like a fresh load of laundry
Handmade soap, small-batch craftsmanship, and plenty of gorgeous scent to look forward to.
Both are available online now and will be at the Metcalfe Farmers' Market this Saturday from 9–1. Come say hi, smell the new restock, and find your next favourite handmade soap.

Some things never go out of style.
Findlay Creek is one of my own favourites — a classic, clean and sophisticated blend of oud and bergamot, with its beautiful blue and green swirl. It’s one of those bars that looks just as good on your soap dish as it feels in the shower.
If you’ve been missing a favourite - or waiting to try something new - good news! Old favourites and new varieties will be making their way back into stock throughout September.
The best farmers market days of the year are just ahead. With the kids heading back to school and the cooler weather on its way, September is one of my favourite times to get out to the markets, support Canadian businesses, and stock up for the season ahead.
Can’t make it to the market? You can still shop online, with free order pickup at Metcalfe Farmers' Market, local delivery, shipping deals, and now farmers market deals available for online orders. Visit the website for all the details.

Handmade soap, small-batch skincare, local markets and a little bit of autumn ahead. I think September is going to be a good one, and it’s hard to believe it’s just one week away!

With summer winding down and back-to-school season just around the corner, it feels like the perfect time to get back into a little routine — including getting fresh soap back into your shower.
See you at the market!
Soap making has taught me a lot about patience.
I plan a design, prepare all the ingredients and supplies, then measure, mix, and pour.
And then... I wait.
This step cannot be skipped. The process of going from flowing liquid to a sliceable solid is governed by the laws of chemistry. We can add ingredients or tweak the conditions to speed it along a bit, but every bar of cold process soap must go through this chemical reaction to become soap.
And there’s no turning back! This transformation is irreversible from the moment the sodium hydroxide comes into contact with the oils. It’s a race against the clock.
The cut is the big reveal. Because after all the planning and prep, a day later I finally get to see if I managed to pull it off.
Did the scent survive saponification, or has it faded?
Did the colours stay true or morph in unexpected ways?
Did the design turn out the way I envisioned?
The cut reveals the answers.
The bars will continue to harden over the next few weeks as water evaporates and the chains of fatty acid salts crystallize. In fact, if I had waited just a few more days before cutting, the soap would be hard enough to cause my tools to snap!
The colours and scent may still shift, but as the wire glides through the soap to reveal what’s inside, I can finally breathe—and start planning my next cleansing creation!
Come see these beautiful Sea Salt & Mango bars in person this weekend!

Running a small business means wearing a million hats, and sometimes it can feel like I’m too focused on the things I had to let go.
Hopes.
Intentions.
Expectations.
Priorities.
But watching this video back reminds me of what I have accomplished. And how that simple shift from “haven’t” to “have” makes me feel so much lighter.
If you’re in the middle of the grind right now, this is your reminder to step back and look at the bigger picture. You’re doing better than you think you are. 🤍
