Will It Irritate Her Skin? The Report That Answers It
Every brand launching an eco friendly organic sanitary pad line hears some version of this sooner or later. Not from a buyer — from a shopper. If it's organic, why did it still irritate?
Fair question. And it usually decides whether a sensitive-skin range sells or sits on the shelf.
Here's where people mix things up: organic and skin-safe are two different claims. Organic tells you where the cotton came from. It says nothing about whether the finished pad, the nonwoven topsheet or the adhesives have been tested against irritation.
So when we open a sensitive-skin project at New Upward, we start with paper instead of promises:
- Skin Sensitization Test Report for non-woven fabrics — No. SDWH-M201900236-2 (E)
- In Vitro Cytotoxicity Test Report for organic bamboo sanitary pads — No. SDWH-M201900236-1 (E), run to ISO 10993-5:2009 by Soochow University
- Skin allergy test report No. 252004820 for Amyas disposable sanitary pads (sterilized grade), 245MM — issued by GTTC
Three documents, three different questions answered. Sensitization looks at how skin reacts to the material. Cytotoxicity looks at cell-level compatibility. The allergy report ties the result to a real finished pad size, which is exactly what a pharmacy or retail buyer will ask about later.
Then the material side. Organic cotton supply chains are covered by certifications such as GOTS and OCS — those confirm fiber origin and chain of custody. They don't cover skin contact. That's the job of the test reports. A launch file with both is much easier to defend in a buyer meeting.
Three things we tell brands to do before mass production:
- Ask for the report number, the issuing lab, and the scope it actually covers (which material, which size, which product).
- Keep those files next to your packaging artwork, so any claim printed on the bag matches something real.
- Re-check them when you add a size or switch a topsheet.
For Lilimolone Ultra-Thin Bamboo Sanitary Pads (155mm, 245mm, 290mm) and NU07 organic sanitary pads with a 100% organic cotton topsheet, this documentation is already part of the product file.
And honestly, the long game matters more than the first order. Brands that ask for the paperwork on day one tend to have an easier second and third run — new size, new packaging, new market — because the evidence is already sitting in the folder. New Upward SC (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. works with importers, distributors and private-label brands on exactly that kind of repeat business.
One thing I'm curious about: when you shortlist a sanitary pad supplier, do you ask for the test report number first, or do you judge from samples?

Beyond the Itch: Certified Materials for Sensitive Skin
Picture this: your organic pad line has been on shelves for six weeks. Then the messages start. "It itches." "I had to switch back." "Is this normal?" Not a flood — just enough to make you wonder what actually went out the door.
Often, nothing went wrong in production. The problem starts one layer earlier: what the pad is made of, and what sits against skin for eight hours straight. Topsheet fibers, adhesive, backing film, even a scented wrapper. The fix rarely lives on the marketing page — it lives in the material spec.
That's why the first thing worth handing a brand owner isn't a catalogue. It's a test folder. Two documents carry most of the weight:
• In Vitro Cytotoxicity Test Report, run per ISO 10993-5 — screens whether material extracts are toxic to cells in a lab model.
• Skin Sensitization Test Report — looks at a material's potential to trigger a sensitization response.
Plain version: one is about the material, the other is about how skin may react to it. Both give you something concrete to send to a worried customer, a pharmacy buyer, or a reviewer.
Then comes the swap. If the complaints point at a synthetic topsheet, organic cotton is the usual move. NU07 organic sanitary pads use a 100% organic cotton topsheet over a fluff pulp and SAP core, with a breathable PE film or a biodegradable film option. Prefer thinner and softer? Lilimolone Ultra-Thin Bamboo Sanitary Pads use a bamboo fiber nonwoven topsheet and come in 155 mm, 245 mm and 290 mm. Topsheet, absorbency, wings, wrapper, pack count and artwork can all be customized.
The part that actually protects you is process discipline: incoming material inspection before anything runs, approved sample control, in-process checks, finished-goods sampling, retain samples, batch traceability. If a batch ever has to be traced, that paper trail is the difference between a quick answer and a month of guessing. And when a complaint does land, ask for the report number, which layer it covers, the issuing lab and the date — then confirm it matches the exact material you're running.
Want to see the pair we work from? It carries report no. SDWH-M201900236. Check the scope covers your product before you reprint a single bag. (New Upward SC (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. runs this side of Lilimolone bamboo and organic pad projects.)
What's the one document you now refuse to approve a new topsheet without?

GOTS vs OCS: 3 Checks Before You Order Organic Pads
GOTS vs OCS — which certificate matters more when you're sourcing eco friendly organic sanitary pads?
Honest answer: neither wins by default. It depends on what you're buying, and on three details that are easy to skip over.
A brand owner sent us two certificate PDFs last month and asked whether they were the same thing. Both said organic. Both looked official. The difference was in the small print.
1. The standard version
The GOTS certificate covering our organic sanitary pad references the GOTS Organic Textile Standard, Version 7.0. Our OCS document is OCS Version 3.0. Versions aren't cosmetic — each revision changes what sits inside the scope and how it gets verified. If a supplier can't say which version their certificate is on, slow down and ask again.
2. Who issued it
A certificate is only as strong as the organization standing behind it. The GOTS document for our organic sanitary pad is issued by ECOCERT Greenlife S.A.S. Ask the same question about every document you receive: who issued this, and is that name printed clearly on the certificate? If the issuing body isn't visible, there's nothing to check.
3. What it actually covers
This is the one that catches buyers most often. OCS Version 3.0 covers our organic bamboo sanitary pads and organic cotton sanitary pads products. Coverage is product-specific, so the certificate has to name the item you're ordering — not the category, not the factory. Same logic applies on the GOTS side.
So a certificate logo on a product page tells you very little. The version number, the issuing body and the product list tell you a lot.
Before you place an order, ask for the full PDF instead of a screenshot cropped to the logo. Match the product name on the certificate against the product name on your PO. And keep the certificate number and validity dates in your sourcing file, right next to the test reports.
Which one is better? Generally, neither — GOTS and OCS answer different questions, and the right fit depends on your market, your claims and the material behind the product. Organic pad lines do cost more in material, packaging and certification than conventional pads. In exchange, they support stronger differentiation and premium pricing potential in organic and premium retail channels.
New Upward SC (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. (Newupward) works on organic and eco-positioned pad projects, including the Lilimolone Ultra-Thin Bamboo Sanitary Pads and organic cotton pad lines.
Curious — when you compare suppliers, which document do you open first, the certificate or the test reports?
Sample approved—ready for mass production? Not quite. Before production starts, these 4 details must be confirmed to make sure the bulk order matches your approved sample.
Same size, different cost. Why?
Materials, packaging, production standards and order quantity all affect the final price.

Cotton vs. Bamboo Pads: Two Checks Before You Commit
A buyer messaged us last week: "Cotton or bamboo? Which one goes on the box?"
Fair question. But before picking a material, ask what you can actually prove. For most importers shopping eco friendly organic sanitary pads, two differences decide more than softness ever will.
1. The certificate names are not interchangeable.
Organic cotton pads sit on a material paper trail. The cotton material file includes two ECOCERT Greenlife scope certificates — OCS, No. EGL/236426/OCS/236426260101190029, and GOTS, No. EGL/236426/GOTS/236426260101190405. Both cover organic cotton material scope: dyed fabrics, greige fabrics, greige yarns, personal care and hygiene, undyed fibers. Both run to 2026-12-31.
Bamboo is a different folder. Lilimolone Ultra-Thin Bamboo Sanitary Pads come in 155 mm, 245 mm and 290 mm, and the surface-layer evidence sits in antimicrobial activity reports: Report No. 2025FM19954R01E from Guangdong Detection Center of Microbiology, and Report No. 210285558 tested under GB/T 20944.3-2008.
Meaning: the wording on your packaging should match the layer and the report behind it. Organic and bamboo are not the same claim.
2. Market-access paperwork is product-specific.
The EAC State Registration, No. RU.08.08.09.012.R.002571.10.23, supports Eurasian Economic Union market access under TR CU 007/2011 — but it covers the products listed on that certificate. Confirm your SKU is on it before artwork goes to print.
EU-bound projects have a CE Declaration of Conformity for feminine hygiene pads, DOC No. H-YG-MD-240414161/01, plus an EU Representative Agreement valid to 2027-04-16.
In practice you choose the material for your shelf, then match documents SKU by SKU. New Upward SC (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. runs both routes: NU07 organic sanitary pads with a 100% organic cotton topsheet, and the Lilimolone bamboo line with OEM private-label packaging. The organic cotton program has already shipped into 200+ retail stores in the United States and 58 pharmacy stores in Saudi Arabia.
So — which market is your next launch aimed at?

One China Supplier for Organic Pads, Packaging, and Export?
Can one China supplier really cover organic sanitary pads, custom packaging, and the export paperwork?
Short answer: yes — but only if you know what to check. Here's the longer version.
A lot of buyers start out juggling three different contacts. One quotes the pads. One quotes the printed bags. A third handles documents. Three timelines, three quality standards, and nobody owns the delay when the artwork shows up late. That is usually the moment the search for a single partner begins.
We're New Upward SC (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. (Newupward), a feminine care manufacturing and supply-chain partner based in Shenzhen. We run OEM, ODM, Private Label and customized sanitary pad projects from product selection through to delivery, so pad specification, wrapper and bag artwork, carton marks, compliance files and shipping coordination sit with one team instead of three.
What that covers on the product side: pad length, shape, thickness, absorbency, wings, organic cotton or bamboo topsheets, fluff pulp and SAP cores, plant-based backsheet options, individual wrappers, pack count, logo and master carton. Sample development normally takes 5–15 working days. A first OEM order runs about 25–30 days after specification and artwork confirmation.
The document side is where buyers get nervous, and honestly they should. An organic claim is only as strong as the scope certificate behind it. Our organic cotton material evidence includes GOTS Scope Certificate No. EGL/236426/GOTS/236426260101190405 and OCS Scope Certificate No. EGL/236426/OCS/236426260101190029, both issued by ECOCERT Greenlife. Skin-contact safety sits in separate reports: in vitro cytotoxicity Report No. SDWH-M201900236-1 (E), tested to the ISO 10993-5 method, and skin allergy Report No. 252004820, issued under GB 15979-2024. Product-level hygiene testing for Lilimolone Ultra-Thin Bamboo Sanitary Pads 245mm is covered by Report No. 260059776. And when a purchasing team asks for due-diligence evidence, we can point to our Level 1 Sanitary Products Production and Sales Enterprise Service Level Qualification Certificate No. SSDY20260609102.
Four questions worth asking any supplier before you commit:
- Which certificate covers which material, and which product, at which size?
- Who approves the artwork, and what happens if the printed bag fails inspection?
- Can you put sample report, carton spec and lead time into one document?
- Who owns export documentation and after-sales if a batch issue appears?
If those answers come back without a redirect to a third company, one-stop sourcing is real.
When you shortlist a new supplier, do you start with the samples or the paperwork?

A Traveler's Period Kit: Bamboo Pads for Carry-Ons
Packing for a long-haul flight is its own sport. Passport, charger, the socks you'll be grateful for by hour six — and, if your period lands mid-trip, a small pouch you keep within arm's reach.
Nobody talks about the airplane bathroom part. Tight space, dry air, hours of sitting still. That's exactly when a stiff, plasticky pad starts feeling like sandpaper, and a quick change stops being quick.
This is the scene we designed our bamboo pads around. Lilimolone Ultra-Thin Bamboo Sanitary Pads use a bamboo fiber nonwoven topsheet over a high-absorbency pulp/SAP core, with a breathable leak-proof PE film back sheet. Three sizes cover a whole trip: 155 mm, 245 mm and 290 mm — liner, day use and longer night coverage — so one pouch replaces three half-used packs. Ultra-thin enough that you forget it's there in a seat.
Skin comfort on a trip shouldn't be a vibe, though. It should be paperwork. The non-woven fabric we use as skin-contact material is covered by the Skin Sensitization Test Report for Non-woven fabrics, Report No. SDWH-M201900236-2 (E), and by an In Vitro Cytotoxicity Test Report following ISO 10993-5:2009 (Report No. SDWH-M201900236-1 (E)).
The organic side is documented too. Organic material used in these pads sits under GOTS Version 7.0 (Scope Certificate No. EGL/236426/GOTS/236426260101190405) and OCS Version 3.0 (Scope Certificate No. EGL/236426/OCS/236426260101190029), both issued by ECOCERT Greenlife S.A.S., valid 2026-01-01 to 2026-12-31.
We put report numbers in a post about packing a bag for one reason: "soft" and "organic" are the easiest words to print on a wrapper and the hardest to prove. Whoever opens your pack — a traveler, a nurse coming off a night shift, a student on a four-hour bus — works it out by the second or third change.
If you're building a travel-size or period-kit range, the pads can be tailored: length, absorbency, surface material, packaging design, logo and private-label artwork. We're New Upward Supply Chain (Guangdong) Co., Ltd., and OEM/private-label is the part we handle — test reports and scope certificates included, so your own buyers can check them.
So — what's the one thing you refuse to travel without?
