This season, we reach for the stars. ✨
We dive down into the forest.
We savour shared hibernation.
And we embrace the festive season.
Winter has a golden glow.

There’s a particular kind of magic to autumn in Scandinavia.

The forests turn to rust and gold, the air grows crisp, and every path disappears beneath a carpet of fallen leaves. The days may be getting shorter, but the landscape has never felt more alive.

This is the season to wrap up, step outside and take it all in — before the colours give way to winter.

HYGGE, at our home in Copenhagen ✨🍂🇩🇰

As evening settles over Nyhavn, the colorful façades catch the last golden light and candles begin to glow in the windows.

Hygge is the Danish idea of finding warmth, comfort and togetherness in simple, everyday moments.

What brings a little hygge into your home?

October brings a deeper shift across Scandinavia.

Forests turn golden, evenings draw in and seasonal rituals return. It is a month for gathering what nature offers, discovering cities after dark and finding warmth in culture, food and shared moments.

Here’s what October looks like across Scandinavia.

Halloween in Tivoli
From 2 October to 1 November, Copenhagen’s Tivoli Gardens blends hygge with a little uhygge, the Danish word for something eerie or unsettling. Witches, ghostly rides and nightly illuminations of light, fire, smoke and water transform the gardens after dark.

Kanelbullens Dag
Every 4 October, Sweden celebrates Kanelbullens Dag, or Cinnamon Bun Day. Created in 1999, the tradition now sees around ten million cinnamon buns bought or baked across the country, turning a simple bun and coffee break into a shared national ritual.

Culture Night, Copenhagen
On 9 October, hundreds of museums, churches, galleries and cultural institutions across Copenhagen opened after dark. A single Culture Pass invited visitors into hidden rooms, basements and towers that are not normally open to the public.

Kantareller, Sweden’s forest gold
In autumn, Swedes head into the forest in search of kantareller, chanterelles known as forest gold. Thanks to allemansrätten, the right of public access, everyone can roam and gather wild mushrooms responsibly, although the best picking places are often closely guarded secrets.

Oslo World
From 27 October to 1 November, Oslo World fills venues across the Norwegian capital with artists from around the globe. Folk, jazz, electronic music, punk and other musical traditions come together in a programme connecting Oslo with different voices and cultures.

Høst, the Norwegian harvest
In Norwegian, høst means both autumn and harvest. As the days shorten, apples and pears ripen in orchards, root vegetables come in from the fields and game returns to the autumn table, while October marks the beginning of lobster season along the coast.

The forest is where our story began. How we bring it into your home matters, too.

This FSC Forest Week, we’re celebrating the forests that inspire us and sharing one of the choices behind our collection. All our beechwood and packaging card are FSC certified, supporting responsible forest management. Not just for SKOG, and not just for this week.

The experience of the autumnal equinox is bittersweet for us in Scandinavia. It marks the last moment in time for half a year when the days are longer than the nights. It is a time where many, naturally, seek the warmth of their homes and the company of loved ones.

So, why is equinox so important to the people of Scandinavia? It simply marks the change of an individual and a collective mindset, it is a celebration of what was and what is to come, a tribute to the love for our home.

What does a cabin in the woods smell like?

STUGA, Swedish for ‘cabin’, evokes the feeling of being nestled in a secluded wooden retreat, deep in the wilds.

Birch bark and woodland mosses, nutmeg and incense. A connection to nature, brought closer to home.
