Two years ago, I was having a conversation with a friend about what I call the “scent brain theory.” For me, it means that when I smell a scent, it instantly triggers a specific feeling, vibe, or memory.
I remember telling my friend, “Did you know there’s a scent that can make you want to dance? I’m thinking of discovering more of these scents and maybe turning it into a business.”
He laughed and said, “You want me to believe a scent could make me feel like doing something?” That conversation ended quickly, and I let the idea go.
But deep down, I always had this strong pull toward entrepreneurship. Not just owning a business for the sake of it, but creating something I deeply love and can continuously innovate in.
Over the years, I tried different ventures — candles, party favors, and other creative services. They all worked, and they all paid off. But eventually, I let them go, because I didn’t feel that gut-level passion. I didn’t feel myself in them.
Then, the idea of scents returned. It happened when I bought a perfume from a local fragrance shop. That spark I once buried came alive again. This time, I didn’t ignore it. I started researching, experimenting, and within just two months, I launched COQUET Fragrance — the brand, the packaging, the materials, everything.
And honestly, it turned out to be the best thing I’ve ever done.
Because for me, perfume isn’t just a business. It’s a feeling, a memory, a story. It’s connection, bottled.
