Between 1 to 5% of Gestations are Twins

Twins that manage to be born, 30% more likely to die before weaning than a calf born only.

It is three times more common in dairy cows than in meat cows, associated with higher metabolic expenditure and a decrease or blockage of inhibin, among other things.

The use of hormones such as EcG and FSH predisposes the presence of Twin Gestations resulting from super induced ovulation.

Multiparated cows are more likely to have Twin pregnancies than Heifers.
