A small toe. Five months of care. A problem affecting much more than its appearance.

This eight-year-old girl had a longstanding wart growing beneath her toenail. It had lifted and distorted the nail, affecting footwear, everyday activities and her confidence.

Over five months, I treated her with a combination of cryotherapy, careful removal of wart tissue and nail care, with appointments every one to two weeks.

At her five-month review, the wart had clinically cleared and her toenail had grown back normally.

I have included the four-month photograph because the time between the first and final images matters. There were regular appointments, ongoing treatment and careful review behind this outcome.

Swipe through her journey, then visit our website for the full story.

Will removing it leave a scar?

It’s an important question if you’re considering having a benign mole, cyst or lipoma removed.

Surgical removal leaves a scar. Its appearance depends on several things, including the procedure, the location and how your skin heals.

The scar can also be longer than the original mole, and photographs taken shortly afterwards won’t show the final result. Scars can continue changing for months or years.

Before proceeding, we’ll discuss the likely scar alongside the benefits, risks and alternatives, so you can make an informed decision.

What does a course of Celora Vita actually involve?

How many appointments will you need? What might your skin look like afterwards? And how do we decide whether it suits you?

This carousel walks you through the practical details, alongside one Oscare patient’s before-and-after photographs.

At Oscare, a typical course involves three treatments, approximately three to four weeks apart. We start with a consultation and review your response throughout.

Small bumps, redness, swelling and bruising can happen afterwards. We’ll discuss possible benefits, risks, recovery and alternatives before you decide.

I’ve also updated my website guide with the patient photographs, course information and answers to common questions.

Hair shedding now? The trigger could have been months ago.

An illness, operation, significant weight loss or a major stressful event can affect your hair cycle. Increased shedding may only become noticeable around three months later, which can make the connection easy to miss.

This type of shedding is called telogen effluvium. It often improves, although recovering your hair’s fullness takes time.

Swipe through to understand the delay, what you might notice and why looking back at your recent health can help with an assessment.

If your shedding is unexplained, ongoing or worrying you, we can discuss your symptoms, examine your scalp and consider appropriate next steps.

Hair thinning? Looking closely at your scalp can help us understand what’s happening.

In part 2 of my hair loss series, I’m explaining what a scalp examination can reveal.

The pattern of thinning, the thickness of individual hairs, breakage and changes to the scalp skin can all provide useful clues. Magnification helps us see details that might otherwise be missed.

Combined with your symptoms and medical history, these findings help guide the next steps, including whether further tests or specialist assessment are needed.

Swipe through to see what I’m looking for, and why changes to your hairline or eyebrows are worth mentioning too.

Hair thinning around menopause? Understanding what might be contributing is a good place to start.

Following my recent talk at the Ashford Menopause Mingle, I’m sharing which blood tests can be helpful when assessing hair thinning and increased shedding.

From iron stores and thyroid function to selected vitamin and hormone checks, the right tests depend on your symptoms, medical history and scalp examination.

And normal blood results don’t mean your hair concerns should be dismissed. They’re one part of the assessment.

What could go wrong?
How much will it cost altogether?
What are your qualifications?
What happens if I’m unhappy with the result?
Do I actually need this?

These are sensible questions to ask before having a treatment.

At Oscare, questions are welcome. You can ask me to explain something again, take time to think, or decide that treatment isn’t for you.

A consultation should help you understand your options and make a decision you feel comfortable with.

It’s your skin. Ask the questions.
