TATTOO REMOVAL
Does laser actually burn the tattoo away?
This is one of the biggest misconceptions about laser tattoo removal.
The laser doesn't simply burn the tattoo off.
Very short pulses of laser energy are absorbed by tattoo pigment, causing the pigment particles to fragment into smaller pieces.
And then comes the part that people sometimes don't realise...
Your body has to do the rest.
Over the weeks following treatment, your body's own clearance processes gradually deal with those fragmented pigment particles.
That's one reason I don't believe in rushing people back for another treatment simply because the tattoo is still visible.
At Allure Clinic, tattoo-removal sessions are spaced at least 12 weeks apart, allowing time for healing and for the body's clearance process to continue.
Tattoo removal isn't a race between the tattoo and the laser.
Sometimes the most important part of the treatment is actually what happens between appointments.

What actually is Advanced Electrolysis?
Have you ever looked at a little skin tag, blood spot or other blemish and thought, “I wish I could just get rid of that”?
Advanced Electrolysis — sometimes called ACP — is a specialist treatment used for a range of minor skin blemishes.
Using a very fine probe and a controlled electrical current, individual blemishes can be treated with precision, while keeping the treatment confined to a very small area.
Depending on suitability, ACP can be used for concerns including skin tags, milia, cherry angiomas (blood spots), facial thread veins, seborrhoeic keratoses, sebaceous hyperplasia and several other benign blemishes.
But an important part of ACP isn't simply knowing how to treat something.
It's knowing whether it should be treated at all.
Every blemish is assessed first, and if there's anything I'm not happy or certain about, I won't treat it cosmetically and may advise having it medically assessed instead.
Over the coming months I'm going to introduce some of the different blemishes I see in clinic — because many people don't realise there may be treatment options for something that's bothered them for years.

Tattoo Removal Myth

"If I have treatments more often, my tattoo will disappear quicker."

It might seem logical that having laser treatments more frequently would remove a tattoo faster, but that's not how the process works.

The laser breaks the tattoo ink into tiny particles. It is your body's immune system that gradually removes those particles over the following weeks.

Having another treatment before your body has had enough time to clear the fragmented ink doesn't usually speed up the process.

For this reason, I recommend allowing around 12 weeks between tattoo removal treatments. This gives your body the opportunity to do what it does naturally before the next session.

Every tattoo and every person is different, but successful tattoo removal isn't about having treatments as often as possible—it's about treating at the right time.

At Allure Clinic, my advice is always based on current evidence and realistic expectations, so you'll never be encouraged to have treatments more frequently than I believe is appropriate.

Tattoo Removal Myth

"Laser burns the tattoo off."

This is one of the most common misconceptions about laser tattoo removal.

The laser doesn't burn or cut the tattoo out of your skin.

Instead, it delivers extremely short pulses of light energy that are absorbed by the tattoo ink. This breaks the ink into much smaller particles.

Over the following weeks, your body's immune system gradually removes these tiny ink fragments naturally.

That's why tattoo removal is a process rather than an instant result. Treatments are usually spaced around 12 weeks apart to give your body time to clear the broken-down ink before the next session.

Every tattoo responds differently depending on factors such as:
Ink colour
Tattoo age
Ink density
Tattoo location
Your individual immune response

Understanding how laser tattoo removal actually works helps set realistic expectations from the start.

❌ Tattoo Removal Myth: "The laser burns the tattoo away."

This is one of the biggest misconceptions I hear.

Laser tattoo removal doesn't burn the skin or melt the ink. Instead, carefully selected wavelengths of light target the tattoo pigment, breaking it into tiny particles. Your body's immune system then gradually clears these particles away over the following weeks.

That's why tattoo removal is a process, not an instant fix. Treatments are spaced well apart to give your body time to do its job.

Every tattoo is different, so during your consultation I'll assess the size, colours, ink density and your skin type before recommending a personalised treatment plan.

If you're considering tattoo removal and would like honest, professional advice, I'm always happy to help.

Running a clinic isn't just about treatments.

It's about listening to people's concerns, helping them feel comfortable, and giving honest advice.

Some clients leave having had treatment.

Others leave simply knowing more about their skin and what their options are.

Both are equally important to me.

I never want anyone to feel pressured into treatment. If something isn't right for you, I'll always tell you.

Building trust takes time, but it's something I value far more than making a quick sale.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Allure Clinic. Every recommendation, review and kind word genuinely means a great deal.

Did you know... laser hair removal only works on hairs that contain pigment?
Laser/IPL targets the melanin (pigment) inside the hair. That means white, grey and most very fair hairs don't absorb enough laser energy for treatment to be effective.

Hair grows in different cycles, and laser is only effective when the hair is in its active growth phase.

I'd always rather explain how treatments really work than make unrealistic promises.

Understanding the science helps you make informed decisions—and that's exactly how I believe aesthetic treatments should be approached.

"One of the biggest misconceptions..."

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear in clinic...

Many people think they have to "put up with" skin blemishes because they're just part of getting older.

The truth is, many common concerns such as skin tags, thread veins, cherry angiomas, milia and certain other benign skin blemishes can often be treated safely and effectively following a consultation.

Every concern is different, which is why I always assess each client individually before recommending treatment. If I don't think something is suitable, I'll tell you honestly.

My aim has never been to persuade people to have treatment. It's simply to help people understand their options.

If you've been wondering whether something could be treated, you're always welcome to get in touch for advice.

"Did you know these are completely harmless... but can still be incredibly frustrating?"
Seb K can vary in size from a few millimeters to several centimeters. They often have a rough, “stuck-on” appearance and can be waxy or scaly to touch. They range in color from light brown to almost black. Some may be flat initially but can become raised over time. While usually painless, seb K can itch, become inflamed, or catch on clothing, sometimes causing minor bleeding.
The exact cause of seb K is unknown. Risk factors include age, genetic predisposition, and possibly sun exposure.
If you have a skin lesion you'd like assessed, I'm always happy to discuss whether ACP is the right option for you.

One of the most important parts of my job isn't removing blemishes...

It's recognising when I shouldn't.

Every client receives a consultation before treatment because not every skin lesion is suitable for Advanced Cosmetic Procedures (ACP).

Sometimes I'll recommend monitoring it.

Sometimes I'll ask for GP approval.

Sometimes I'll suggest Map My Mole first.

My priority is always your safety before treatment.

That's why every consultation is tailored to you—not just the blemish.
