I’m constantly being asked the difference between soft & hard gel, by clients and other nail techs! So let’s break it down..

Soft gel💅🏼🫧
-Also known as ‘builder gel’ ‘BIAB’
-Soft gel is strong, yet flexible so will flex with your natural nails
-Best used for short/ medium length & strong nails
-Used for natural nail overlays, NOT extensions
-Can be shaped after application & curing
-Removed using the traditional soak off method
-MUST be cured for 60-99s in the lamp
-In most soft gels a base coat is ‘built in’

Hard gel💅🏼✨
-Very strong gel based product that is rigid with little flexibility
-Can be used on natural nails (especially long nails)
-Used to add instant length through the use of sculpting forms or artificial tips
-Removed with a file off technique, hard gel will NOT soak off
-Best for long length nails
-Must be cured for 60-99s in the lamp
-A separate base coat is required before application
