From the photo, those small dark raised bumps on the cheekbone area do look consistent with Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra (DPN) — common, harmless pigmented bumps that often appear on the face, especially around the cheeks and eyes in darker skin tones.

I can’t diagnose from an image alone, but it does resemble DPN more than acne or blackheads.

A few things I notice:

Small, dark, slightly raised papules

Typical distribution (upper cheek / around eye area)

No obvious redness or inflammation

What it usually is

DPN is basically a harmless skin growth related to seborrheic keratoses. It often:

Runs in families

Appears more with age

Can slowly increase in number

What won’t remove it

Most skincare products won’t make existing DPN bumps disappear:

Regular exfoliants

Acne creams

Moisturisers

Most “dark spot removers”

Treatments that actually work

A dermatologist / skin clinic can remove them with:

Electrocautery (very common)

Laser removal (like Nd:YAG laser)

Curettage

Light cryotherapy (used carefully on darker skin)

For darker skin, choosing someone experienced is important to reduce risk of hyperpigmentation.

Be careful with

Avoid:

Picking them

DIY acids at high strength

“Skin tag remover” products

Home burning/freezing kits

These can leave dark marks or scars.
