✂️ Just a little reminder… I don’t just cut children’s hair! 💇‍♀️

As well as specialising in SEND haircuts, I’m also an adaptive barber. But what does that actually mean?

It means I adapt the whole haircut experience around the individual client — their needs, abilities, comfort levels and the environment I’m working in. There really isn’t a “one size fits all” approach. ❤️

I work with people with a wide range of mobility difficulties, physical and mental health conditions, as well as clients living with dementia, anxiety, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), agoraphobia and many other challenges.

I visit clients in their own homes, care homes, hospitals and rehabilitation facilities — basically, wherever I’m needed!

My previous career as a Paramedic has also given me lots of experience working in different homes, environments and situations, and I’m comfortable adapting to whatever each visit may require. Where appropriate, I’m also confident supporting clients with safe transfers and positioning during their haircut.

My aim is always to make haircuts feel as comfortable, dignified and stress-free as possible, while working at the client’s pace and adapting to their individual needs. ❤️

So, if you or someone you know could benefit from an adaptive, patient and understanding barber, please feel free to get in touch. 🤗

Meet Jaxson!
The haircut journey has not been an easy one for little JJ… when I first met him he was absolutely terrified of every single part of the hair cutting process.
As you can see from these photos it’s been a long journey to get him to where he is now and he has done so so well.
He still doesn’t enjoy haircuts, and still requires a lot of reassurance from his lovely Mummy and myself before, and during the cut… but he is making so many positive leaps that I just had to share his journey!
The first few photos are after his most recent cut and doesn’t he look adorable!
JJ had a full scissor cut because he is currently still unable to tolerate the clippers, but that’s ok because we have now got to the stage where it is safe to do this! He no longer tries to run away or put his hands up to touch his hair, and so I can safely use the scissors to style his hair… this has definitely been a work in progress and he has had many incomplete, or imperfect haircuts along the way… but JJ’s mum is amazing and fully understood that it was part of the process and the journey to get him to where he is now….
And just look at him 😍 perfect timing for his school photos this week!!
Great work Jaxson!!

Caring Cuts by Grace did a great job on Eiden's hair today. We'll call it a challenging experience!

Rocking a new T-shirt too… definitely one to grow into... currently hitting mid-forearm and nearly down to his knees 🤣👕

♥️✂️🙌🏻

✂️ Adaptive Haircutters meet up! ✂️

Myself, Grace & Lu all work independently, covering the BCP area to offer services for those with SEN, the elderly and anyone else that may feel more comfortable having their haircut at home.

We meet every 3months to talk all things hair, and to support each other with tips/ tricks/ advice.
We may work separately, but we stand as a team when it comes to business.
This work can get lonely, and it can have really tricky days…. So it’s nice to have the guidance of other people who just get it!
It’s also really nice to have people to celebrate our little businesses too!

We don’t compete.
If we are fully booked or don’t offer a particular service, we always feel wholeheartedly confident that we can point you in the direction of one of the others…
Alongside some other fantastic services in the area!

Let’s hope this network of awesome people continues to expand so we are able to help more and more people in the BCP area and beyond! 💜

(Thanks for today ladies, as always! 😁)

You may remember my previous post (below) about Sam written by his lovely Mum….

Well today I visited Sam and he ABSOLUTELY SMASHED his haircut! He is now the proud owner of an adorable baby mullet which he absolutely ROCKS! Sam was still very wriggly and it was definitely an ‘on the move’ haircut… but he was sooooo chill and just happily played with the toys and wandered about calmly whilst I followed him about and cut his hair! Good work Sam you little legend! (Swipe to see how his hair was before I started working with him).

‘Sam is 2 years old and he has extreme sensory sensitivity. Brushing his hair is quite uncomfortable for him too. In fact, anything to do with his hair was always a no go!
His first haircut, done about a year ago at the barbers, was traumatic for everyone.
He screamed the entire time and we couldn’t get him to cooperate in any sort of way whatsoever!
After that, as soon as he sensed someone going near his hair with scissors or anything that looked like it, it led to him immediately running away and crying and doing anything to get out of doing it.
On the first appointment with Grace, we realised that having fidget toys, and having that ability to move around helped massively. He still cried on and off, and was very apprehensive, but by the end of it he was doing great.
Then on the next appointment, Sam didn’t even cry and he even sat still for the first 15 minutes! Again, playing with fidget toys, and counting the amount of times he’d have the clippers used or his hair being cut with scissors worked really well for him. It was a much more positive experience!’

Sorry for the silence on socials! I’ve been so super busy with lots of back to school cuts and trying to squeeze everyone in that I haven’t had any time to post!

So just a quick one today…. Here’s the lovely Noah looking smart after his back to school cut…
Noah also had to have his first little facial hair tidy up this time round because he’s now 13 and the chin fluff was fluffing!! (Swipe for the before pics)
