My intermittent fasting journey - mainly OMAD
I've fasted on and off for several years but have now decided to document my journey to keep on track
Today ended up being a fasting (under 500kcal) day.
First one in a very long time. Just had OMAD of chicken, bacon & lentil stew which was under 500kcal. I usually had a snack/dessert immediately before or after my meal, but today felt surprisingly full (& completely satisfied) after dinner so didn't need anything more
Not been counting calories or carbs this week as feeling a bit of diet fatigue, but have been generally sticking to OMAD and eating home cooked, whole food based meals
This week hasn't been great. Done a few good OMAD days interspersed with days of snacking involving high carbs and alcohol
Next week I'm not going to fast more than 23hr as I think the pressure when I'm not quite in the right mind frame is making me self sabotage. So it will be healthy OMAD every day and posting daily to keep me accountable
I'm again struggling to get back on track after another holiday. Last couple of days haven't been great as had pierogi with fried onions & bacon and then a fish & chip takeaway 🙈 Today was slightly better, homemade bacon & shrimp risotto - at least it was OMAD. Not going away again until late summer so will have a big push until then - wish me luck!
Had one of my favourite dinners as my OMAD - cod with spiced lentils & creamy leeks
Also had my usual snacks of olives, mixed nuts & dark chocolate within my eating
Ended on 990kcal, 60g protein, 31g carbs, 66g fat
It's so sunny outside that I'm really in the mood for a cocktail! Will try my best to remain strong!
Weekend was pretty bad unfortunately 😔 Ate pretty much all meals out and food wasn't the best. Plus had a bit too much wine
Am back on it this week, have a week until my next short break away
Completed my second & final 48hr fast day of the week 🙂
I very nearly caved as someone bought cakes into the office and one of them was my favourite salted caramel. I went to get a slice a couple of times, but managed to satisfy myself with the look & aroma of it. Anyone who saw me must have thought I was mad!
I tried yet another new recipe - Persian saffron prawns. It was super tasty & super low calorie - just 128kcal per portion. I will definitely have it again
Ended the day on 839kcal, 58g protein, 15g carbs, 59g fat
The rest of my food consisted of 2 fried eggs, roasted asparagus & a tuna steak to accompany my dinner
And then mixed olives
Dessert was 30g mixed nuts, 2 squares chopped 95% dark chocolate & a splash of heavy cream.
All the fat came from my snack/dessert, but they are primarily healthy fats and very satiating
Kept to water only yesterday & will break my fast at dinner tonight. Now that I'm at work it should be relatively easy 🙂
Successfully completed my 48hr water fast 🙂
Food for today was coconut, coriander & lime salmon (super tasty!) with kale & green beans sautéed in sesame oil, soy sauce & fresh green chilli, over egg fried cauliflower rice.
Also had some mixed olives, followed by 30g mixed nuts, some chopped 95% dark chocolate & a splash of double cream
Ended the day on 906kcal, 46g protein, 15g carbs & 73g fat
Now onto my second (& final) 48hr fast of the week
Today's water fast is going well. Now at work which I usually find easy as it's an effort to go & get food (unless someone brings goodies into the office, which happens every now & then!)
Dinner is already planned - a healthy, tasty & filling coconut, coriander & lime salmon with cauliflower rice. Really looking forward to it! 😋
