We begin the cups journey with the Ace, a card of new beginnings in relationships, commitments and emotions. We continue our journey to 2 and find two people in unity, an equal partnership where emotions run transparently and openly between the two, this speaks of emotional balance and connectedness with the other. The harmony between these two is also indicated by the Caduceus above them (the rod with wings usually shown with two snakes twisted around it). This is the staff of Hermes the Greek messenger of the gods, mythology says he threw the rod at two fighting snakes and they wound themselves around it that now sit peacefully together 🐍

As a side note, when it comes to themes of relationships and emotional balance I often consider this means with oneself too… 👀

We are back to earthy, grounded goodness with the 2 of pentacles. Here we have a cat playing with two coins, you can see they’re carefully balanced within the symbol for infinity and you can see how he’s being careful not to drop them! This card indicates a balance has been found within your resources, foundations and financial matters. I often feel like this is a see-saw effect, “What comes up must come down” (reminds me of The Wheel in the Major Arcana) with one coin higher than the other, if the cat becomes unbalanced so will the coins. it’s a reminder to be prepared, be adaptable. You can see the sea behind the cat, winds and currents can change causing the ships sat upon it to act quickly or sink.

Whatever it is, if you’re feeling like you’ve found stability and a balance that works for you, this card is confirming just that 🙌 …if you’re struggling this may be calling you to adapt in order to reset the scales ⚖️

The Hermit called for retreat… and boy did I need it!

Slowing down this week looked like…
📚 pic 2- starting a new book, I’m enjoying it so far and I’m about 50% of the way through, it’s giving me that autumnal feeling!
🎨 pic 3 - Spending some quality time with family in a splatter room… This was chaos from start to finish and I’m still finding paint in my hair!
🍴pic 4 a Dinner out, spending time with my husband… just because!
🎃 pic 5 - wandering around looking at Halloween goods! … I am done with his heatwave nonsense 😮‍💨
🧀 no pic- enjoyed a cheese and wine eclipse party with friends! Because how else would you watch an eclipse 🤷‍♀️

Sometimes we don’t know we need to rest until it bites us in the bum and with a busy summer period to contend with it’s easy to just keep going… let this be a reminder to slow down 🧡

Anyone else burning out in this heatwave and this glorious sociable summer?!

We find The Hermit alone, in the dark, with his guiding light and he calls for us to retreat. He’s not afraid, for his home is himself. He finds solitude and the dark a comfort, as the crowds and energy of the day distract and drown out the voice within. Sometimes we need to spend time with ourselves to find our path again, to allow the only noise we hear, to be our inner voice calling us home….
