Throwing it back to our time at the Allergy & Free From Show!
Between the chaotic boxes and my hilarious battle with DIY Velcro 😅, it was a messy morning, but seeing it all come together perfectly made it so worth it. Such great memories! ✨

Encasement or a topper for dust mites? 🤔 This one confuses nearly everyone, so quick myth-bust because I see people waste money on it constantly.
They're not the same thing and they don't do the same job.
🛏️ An encasement is the fully zipped case that goes round your whole mattress, all six sides. That's the bit that actually traps the mites and stops them getting to you.
🧽 A topper is just the soft washable layer that sits on top. Comfy, easy to chuck in the wash, but it doesn't seal anything by itself.
Here's where people go wrong 👇 they buy a topper, assume that's "dust mite protection" sorted, and it isn't. On its own a topper collects skin cells and mites exactly like your mattress does. The encasement is the part doing the real work. The topper's just comfort.
And if you're using both, encasement on the mattress first, topper on top of that. Not the other way round. You want the sealed layer locked against the mattress and the washable layer up top where you can strip it off and wash it hot every week.
Honestly if you only do one thing, seal the mattress, then the pillows. That's where your face is for 8 hours a night 😴

Don't make your bed the second you wake up. 🛑 Pulling the covers up traps overnight heat and sweat in your mattress, the damp, warm conditions dust mites love. Fold bedding back, let it air out, and reduce that build-up. 🌬️
Your bed could be why you're exhausted and itchy. 🤧 Dust mites trigger eczema and asthma, not just sneezing. Red skin, itchy eyes, broken sleep, and the emotional drain of fighting it nightly. Time to take your bed back. 🌬️
The 60°C Laundry Rule 🛑 Still washing bedding in cold water? Mites and their eggs survive it. Washing at 60°C is the recommended way to kill dust mites and clear the allergens building up in your sheets. A simple change for calmer skin and easier mornings. 🧺
Itchy skin, red eyes, endless sneezing, waking up exhausted? 🤧 Dust mites are a common eczema and asthma trigger, living deep in your mattress, pillows and duvet, feeding on the skin you shed nightly. They affect more than your breathing. Take your bed back.
Are allergies wrecking your sleep? 🤧 Cold washes leave dust mites behind. Washing bedding at 60°C or above helps kill mites and reduce allergen build-up in your washable bedding. For the mattress itself, an encasement seals them out. 🌬️
If you have allergies, fold your bedding back at the foot of the bed instead. This lets overnight humidity escape, and since dust mites and mould need moisture, drying out helps reduce their build-up over time. 🛏️
Stop making your bed! Fold your covers at the foot of the bed instead. This releases trapped overnight humidity, destroying the damp environment that dust mites and mold thrive in. Banish morning allergies and breathe easier!
