☀️ Let’s talk SPF…

One of the biggest misconceptions is that SPF is only needed on sunny holidays. The truth is, UV rays are present all year round, even on cloudy days.

When choosing a sunscreen, look for one that offers broad-spectrum protection, meaning it protects against both UVA and UVB rays.

🤎UVA rays pe*****te deeper into the skin. They accelerate collagen and elastin breakdown, contributing to premature ageing, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and can also play a role in skin cancer. They can pass through clouds and even glass, so you’re exposed while driving or sitting by a window.

🤎UVB rays affect the outer layers of the skin and are responsible for sunburn. They also damage DNA within skin cells, increasing the risk of skin cancer.

Sun damage doesn’t usually happen overnight, it’s cumulative. Every time your skin is exposed without adequate protection, microscopic damage occurs. Over months and years, this builds up and can lead to pigmentation, uneven skin tone, loss of elasticity, broken capillaries and premature ageing.

My advice:
✨ Wear SPF 30 or 50 every single day.
✨ Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high UVA rating.
✨ Apply enough (around three finger lengths for your face, neck and chest).
✨ Reapply every 2 hours if you’re outdoors, and after swimming or excessive sweating.
