Member Denise Coupland Textile Artist has spent over a decade experimenting with and pushing the boundaries of silk / fibre paper making. Her latest piece, Immersed in Green: A Folded Refuge, will be heading to the Nottingham Society of Artists Gallery for our next exhibition.
This work is one of a series of four pieces exploring the exhibition theme, Folded Frayed Found, in a metaphorical way.
To discover the story behind the artwork, you are warmly invited to our ‘Meet the Artist’ event on Sunday 31st May, 1.30–3.30pm.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Member Jane Clark shows how the theme of our exhibition reflects some of the myriad approaches used by textile artists in their work – think fabric manipulation, tucking, pleating and gathering; think shibori, patchwork and appliqué; think fabric distressing and the use of found objects from nature, from charity shops, or just from a rummage through that familiar friend – the stash. In the hands of a textile artist, there are no bounds; the only limitation is imagination.
Everyday objects are transformed, reimagined, re-loved, and emerge as covetable and desirable works of art.
Our exhibition opens Tuesday 26th May - Saturday 6th June Nottingham Society of Artists
