The Pony Pals Family

Can you guys believe that I didn't take a single photograph or video today, so here is a photo from a previous event! We were a little short numbered and so everyone had a job to do, I was on the commentary for the morning racing and then had a field role for the afternoon, which is great as I was in the ring watching all of the action.
Verity and Carajane Drummer Blue had an absolutely brilliant day with placings throughout their jump and flat racing, with a win in the afternoon's flat race! This little combo really are on fire, they are having a blast out there with their friends, living the dream!

Three eager beavers are already kicking up the dust in the Jack Nash Ring at Cranleigh Show settling the ponies in ahead of tomorrow morning's racing with the Shetland Performance Display Team

Having got back from camping yesterday evening, we are now getting organised to head out again tomorrow. No paddleboards and water fun this time, it's all about the Shetland racing this weekend, and what a cracking weekend it looks to be! Blue is on fine form, he absolutely loves this racing chapter, Oliver's been practicing not only his cheers for his sister, but also his smiles for when he is on his charity bucket collecting duties to aid more fundraising for the children's hospitals that the Shetland Performance Display Team support. Cranleigh Show is a local show for us, we are hoping to see lots of friends there, please don't think us rude if you catch us during the performance or en route to, we need to see to Bluey first before we can chat and we are part of a team - we love to see page followers at the events but we can't talk during the performance, there is racing to be done! :)

Oliver is super excited for the British Driving Society Junior camp. He had the best time last year gaining his bronze certificates in rein handling and harnessing up, and driving a range of disciplines from pleasure driving, cones and long reining skills too!
Last year's theme was Cowboys, this year it is an Army theme! Officer Oliver reporting for some carriage driving duties, I think he will be sleeping in this outfit for the next 3 weeks until camp!

Well, we sure have merged into the camping lifestyle now, having spent the summer out with Blue at various stay away shows and camps, we finally made it out without a pony to a normal campsite. It's absolutely beautiful here in the South Downs, with plenty of mischief for Oliver to be fully entertained!

I must be totally bonkers, we drove a 4 hour round trip for an hour in the arena today 😂 but, what an awesome hour that was! And, the added bonus of doing some good high level fitness work on a nice arena surface too.
We had a meet up with some of our lovely Shetland Performance Display Team friends and put the ponies through their paces.
The great thing about race training is that the hurdles are one height only, so when they go well it's only a case of improving technique, not whacking the jump height up like most traditional lessons play out. The ponies absolutely love it, and show great confidence over the hurdles.
When Verity joined a year ago, she was very much one of the riders that needed a more experienced rider to give her a lead over the hurdles, but today she took that role of experienced jockey and was able to help another team member get some confidence tucked in behind her as she and Blue gave them a lead over the hurdles. It's a wonderful time to appreciate how far she has come, but also the beautiful team spirit that we are fortunate to be a part of.
We are very much looking forward to Cranleigh Show show on Sunday!
