Understanding will 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 outperform copying🧠

Clients 𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 come asking for a specific mapping. They come asking for a 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴. To make their eyes look longer, or lifted, or softer, etc.

An inspiration photo is simply one way of achieving that feeling on that person. It doesn’t mean it’s the right way to achieve it on every person.

That’s why I changed almost everything. Not because the inspiration was wrong. Not because my client was wrong.

But 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻.

For me, lash styling isn’t about 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 photos.

It’s about 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 them into something that works for the person sitting in front of you🔁

The best lash artists 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 stop being students.

Today’s refresher wasn’t about learning 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 techniques, it was about understanding 𝙬𝙝𝙮 those techniques work.

Because confidence doesn’t come from knowing everything, it comes from 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴👩🏻‍🎓🧠

The main thing I do differently with clients, compared to when I started:

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙨, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚.

I 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 want the lashes to be the focal point. Whereas, when I first started, I 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 made the lashes the focus point of the face.

Until I realised, it’s not about enhancing the eyelashes, it’s about 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.

I’ve been going through years of old client photos and inviting them back so I can restyle them using everything I’ve learnt over the last eight years. So if I saw you back in my mums living room or spare room, expect a message 👀

79% of you voted to change the colour… so today we swapped her black lashes for brown 🤎

Same client, styling, lengths..

The only thing that changed was the lash colour.

Which do you prefer?

The skill that changes everything is learning how to 𝙨𝙚𝙚 your own work properly.

Not just knowing something looks wrong, knowing 𝙬𝙝𝙮, and what to change next.

That’s the difference between repeating a technique and 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 developing 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘆𝗲.

The difference between applying lashes and designing lashes is understanding what every decision is doing to the face.

The map can work, but the colour can change the result.

The colour can work, but the texture can change the balance.

The texture can work, but placing the emphasis in the wrong area can completely change how the design feels.

None of these sets are technically wrong. But for the result I wanted to create, one felt far more harmonious than the others..

Good lash design isn’t about memorising more maps.

It’s about learning to look at the person in front of you, make intentional decisions, and understand why you’re making them.

That’s the difference between copying a lash map and knowing how to design one 🖤

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗽𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗸𝗲.

It isn’t always about adding more lashes. It’s about knowing where to create softness, where to add texture, and where to leave space.

A wispy set works because every peak is intentional. It creates movement, shape and dimension in a way that a uniform volume set often can’t.

That’s what makes it feel more tailored. Not heavier, not fuller, more designed.
