You asked, we answered.

Two of the questions we’re asked most are:

“How much does it cost to run a sauna business?” and “How much did it cost to set up?”

We’ll answer the running costs first.

These are our costs based on our own setup, so they’ll be different for everyone depending on the size of your operation.

Wood – We burn approximately one pallet of kiln-dried firewood a week, but we have three saunas running, so this will vary depending on your setup.

Wages – This is based on our opening hours only. It doesn’t include the hours spent on admin (booking issues, ordering stock), maintenance, deep cleaning, or everything else that happens behind the scenes.

Insurance – We have public liability insurance. The cost will depend on your business, the size of your setup, and the level of cover you need.

VAT – Every booking we take is subject to VAT, so that’s another cost that needs to be accounted for.

Rent, rates and utilities – Rent, commercial rates, water and electricity all need to be paid, and these costs will be different for every location.

People often see a busy sauna and assume it’s all profit, but there’s a lot that goes into keeping everything running day in, day out.

Slower pace than the usual stuff… and slightly less of me effing and blinding

A little insight into my favourite part of Urban Sauna Co — our private sauna.

From the .ie stove, the locally sourced materials, to the raised benches and internal dimensions built around proper Finnish sauna standards — and even a few mistakes that somehow worked out for the better — this sauna has turned into something special.

It started as a complete gamble. I genuinely didn’t know if there’d been demand for it… but thankfully there was, and it’s been a massive hit.

Big shoutout to for pushing me to make a video about something I’m actually passionate about.

Upgrading as usual here at USC 🔥

We’ve been busy adding more quality-of-life improvements for our customers — new shower bay, upgraded private area with its own shower, new canvas to keep the plunges cooler on these hot days, fresh mural (big thanks to , plus behind the scenes upgrades for the team with a new wood store & prep area.
