Congratulations, Dowa. Great news for our district and especially our young people.
The proposed fertiliser plant in Dowa has officially completed the environmental approval process and is now waiting for the Malawi Environmental Protection Authority (MEPA) to issue its environmental certificate before construction can begin.
The fertiliser plant is being developed by businessman Napoleon Dzombe, whose investment is expected to bring significant benefits to Dowa and Malawi as a whole.
MEPA Director General Wilfred Kadewa said the approval process took longer because the Authority wanted to ensure that issues related to hazardous waste management and public safety were properly addressed. These concerns have now been resolved, and the MEPA Board has approved the project.
This is a big step forward for Dowa. Once the project starts, it is expected to create jobs for many young people, support local businesses, improve access to fertiliser, and contribute to the district's economic development. Many families stand to benefit from the opportunities this investment could bring.
Congratulations to Napoleon Dzombe for reaching this important milestone, and congratulations to the people of Dowa. We look forward to seeing this project become a reality and help build a brighter future for our district.

Happy Independence Day, Malawi
Today is more than just a public holiday. It's a reminder that many years ago, brave men and women believed Malawi deserved the freedom to choose its own path.
As we celebrate, let's remember that the Malawi we all want won't be built by a few people. It will be built by all of us, young and old, from every district, every tribe, and every background.
We may support different football teams, belong to different churches, speak different languages, or have different political opinions, but at the end of the day, we all smile under the same Malawi flag.
The future of our country depends on how we treat one another today. A kind word, a helping hand, respect for each other, and a willingness to work together can take Malawi further than hatred and division ever will.
As young people, we have every reason to dream of a better Malawi—and every responsibility to help make that dream come true.
This Independence Day, let's not only celebrate our freedom. Let's use it to build stronger communities, support one another, and leave a better Malawi for the next generation.
From all of us at Dowa Youth Action Movement we wish every Malawian a peaceful, joyful, and memorable 62nd Independence Day.
One Nation. One People. One Malawi. 🇲🇼
