BEFORE YOU EAT THAT FRUIT… READ THIS. 👀
That mango that suddenly became ripe overnight…
That banana that went from green to yellow unusually fast…
That plantain that seems to ripen almost too quickly…
Could it have been artificially ripened? 🤔
Calcium carbide (CaC₂) has been used as an artificial fruit-ripening agent. The problem is that commercial-grade calcium carbide can contain impurities such as arsenic and other potentially toxic substances. Research has found higher arsenic levels in some fruits experimentally ripened with calcium carbide.
Recent research has also examined banana, mango and plantain treated with calcium carbide and reported accumulation of arsenic, lead and cadmium in treated fruits.
BUT DON'T PANIC!
A fruit ripening quickly does NOT prove that calcium carbide was used.
And please, don't try to "remove the chemical" with bleach, detergent, disinfectant or other harsh substances. ❌
So what should you do?👇

EPISODE 5: TOMATO SAUCE + WHAT’S MAKING IT SO RED? 👀
That bright-red tomato sauce on your plate, is the colour always coming from tomatoes? 🤔
Here’s something worth knowing: illegal colourants, including Sudan dyes, have been detected in some chilli, spice and sauce products in food-adulteration investigations.
Why would anyone add an illegal colourant?
👉 To make a product look richer, redder and more attractive than it really is.
But hold on!
A very red tomato sauce does NOT automatically mean it contains Sudan dye.
Colour alone cannot expose a chemical adulterant. Proper laboratory testing is needed to confirm it.
So don't panic. Don't start inspecting every bottle in your kitchen with a torch 😂.
Instead, learn how to make smarter choices: check the label, buy from reputable sources, and be cautious of products with questionable packaging or no traceable manufacturer. Or much better to use NATURAL TOMATOES.
👇 Quick question:
Would you still buy a tomato sauce if the colour looked unnaturally bright red?
YES or NO ?

EPISODE 3: CURRY POWDER + POSSIBLE ILLEGAL COLOURANTS 👀
That bright, attractive curry powder in your kitchen; is the colour always coming from the spices? 🤔
Curry powder is usually a mixture of perfectly legitimate spices. But here’s the part worth knowing: illegal industrial colourants, including Sudan dyes, have been reported as adulterants in some spice products.
Why would anyone add them?
👉 To make a spice mixture appear brighter, deeper or more attractive.
And no, bright yellow curry powder does NOT automatically mean it contains Sudan dye.
You cannot reliably confirm chemical adulteration just by looking at the colour. Laboratory testing is needed.
So before you panic and throw away your curry powder 😂, learn what is actually known, what is just a rumour, and how to make safer food choices.
Be honest: Have you ever bought curry powder because the colour looked unusually bright?
Comment “YES” or “NO” 👇
And share this with someone who puts curry powder in almost every pot of soup! 😂

THAT FOOD MAY NOT BE AS INNOCENT AS IT LOOKS. 👀
What if the colour, freshness or appearance you love about some foods is actually being achieved with chemicals that have no business being in your food? 😳
From palm oil and fruits to fish, meat and other everyday foods, there are documented cases of food adulteration involving substances such as industrial dyes, formaldehyde and calcium carbide.
And here is the disturbing part:
You may eat it without knowing.
But before you start throwing everything in your kitchen away 😂, let’s separate FACT from WhatsApp rumours.
In this series, I’ll show you:
