A group of unidentified youths protested on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, blocking the Benin-Lagos Express Road in Benin City. The protesters, frustrated by the harsh economic conditions and rising cost of living, disrupted traffic and daily activities, disappointing law enforcement efforts to intervene.

The NACOMYO Edo State Chapter has issued an appeal for calm, urging stakeholders to address the situation promptly and prevent further escalation. "We call on the government to do the needful and address the pressing issues affecting our community," said a spokesperson.
