Can a child really be born with dreadlocks? 🤔

This is one topic that has always fascinated me, especially because there are different beliefs surrounding children who are born with what appears to be “dreadlocked” or matted hair.

Some religious groups believe that these children are powerful or spiritually significant because they were born with dreadlocks. But personally, I have a different school of thought.

I believe some of these cases could simply be the result of our natural African hair texture (kinky), tightly coiled hair that can tangle and mat very easily when it isn’t properly moisturised or handled.

Think about it: if that same hair is consistently softened with a good leave-in conditioner or hair mist, properly moisturised, gently detangled and combed with a wide-tooth comb, would it still form those locks?

And then there’s the bigger question: when the Bible spoke about Samson’s seven locks, was it actually referring to what we understand today as dreadlocks? The Bible doesn’t explicitly describe them that way, so there’s definitely room for interpretation.

But that’s just my perspective. 👀
