Which Surah is commonly known as the “Heart of the Qur’an”? ❤️📖

02/10/2026

🕋 “LEARN FROM THE PAST BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE” — SHEIKH FAISAL GHAZZAWI’S POWERFUL FRIDAY KHUTBAH FROM MASJID AL-HARAM

The Imam of the Grand Mosque calls Muslims to self-accountability, repentance and reflection on the lessons of the Qur’an

Sheikh Prof. Dr. Faisal bin Jamil Ghazzawi, Imam and Khateeb of Masjid al-Haram, delivered the Friday khutbah today, 2 October 2026, calling Muslims to fear Allah, examine their deeds and learn from the consequences experienced by those who came before them.

The Sheikh began by reminding believers of the importance of Taqwa and of examining what they have prepared for the Day of Judgment.

🤲 HUMANS MAKE MISTAKES — BUT THEY MUST RETURN

One of the central messages of the khutbah was that human beings are naturally weak and prone to mistakes.

A person may be overcome by desires, anger or temptation, causing him to make decisions without considering their consequences.

But Sheikh Ghazzawi emphasized an important distinction: making a mistake is not the greatest problem; persisting in the mistake without repentance and correction is.

The believer should rise whenever he falls, correct his mistakes and return to the right path.

📖 LEARN FROM THE STORIES OF THE QUR’AN

The Sheikh then highlighted the many stories mentioned in the Qur’an.

He explained that these stories were not revealed merely for entertainment or historical information. They contain lessons, warnings and guidance for those who reflect.

Among the examples he discussed was the story of the People of the Elephant, who came intending to violate the sanctity of the Sacred House.

Their fate, he explained, remains a lesson for people who reflect on the consequences of transgression and wrongdoing.

🧠 THE WISE PERSON LEARNS FROM WHAT HE SEES

Sheikh Ghazzawi encouraged Muslims not to wait until they personally experience every consequence before learning.

A wise person can learn from what he sees, hears and observes in the lives of others.

He urged believers to follow the example of righteous people and avoid the behaviour of wrongdoers.

He also emphasized regular self-accountability (muhasabah):

If a person does something good, he should continue doing good.

If he discovers a mistake, he should correct it when possible.

If he does not know, he should ask.

If he slips, he should return.

If he commits a wrong, he should regret it.

And when he repents, he should leave the sin behind.

⚠️ A WARNING AGAINST EXTREMISM AND INJUSTICE

Toward the end of the khutbah, Sheikh Ghazzawi also warned against religious extremism and injustice.

He criticized those who declare other Muslims unbelievers without evidence, excessively accuse Muslims of wrongdoing, or make the blood and property of others permissible through injustice and aggression.

He also stated that attacking Muslim lands, frightening innocent people and harming others constitutes transgression and aggression.

🕋 THE MESSAGE FROM MASJID AL-HARAM

The central message of today's khutbah can be summarized simply:

Do not ignore the lessons around you.

Look at your own actions. Learn from the Qur’an. Learn from the fate of those who came before you. When you make a mistake, do not remain in it—return to Allah, repent and correct yourself.

The khutbah therefore combined Taqwa, self-accountability, repentance, reflection on Qur’anic stories, rejection of extremism and avoidance of injustice.

🇮🇳🕋 INDIAN JOURNALIST REPORTEDLY DETAINED IN SAUDI ARABIA DURING UMRAH

Family says they have lost contact with Risha Hussain after she reportedly said she was being detained

An Indian journalist working with TV9 Bharatvarsh, Risha Hussain, has reportedly become unreachable in Saudi Arabia after travelling to the Kingdom for Umrah.

According to her sister, Kainat Jafri, Risha travelled from New Delhi to Saudi Arabia on September 28, 2026. Her family said she completed her Umrah and was expected to travel to Madinah afterwards.

The family says Risha's last known communication was with a friend on the evening of September 30. According to her sister, Risha told the friend that she was being detained and asked the friend to inform her family.

Since then, the family says it has been unable to establish contact with her or determine where she is being held.

🕋 HER LAST POSTS WERE FROM MAKKAH

Before becoming unreachable, Risha had posted content from her Umrah journey in Makkah.

Reports say one of her recent Instagram posts showed her near the Makkah Clock Tower, close to Masjid al-Haram. Other reports say her Instagram content included images/video from her Umrah, including footage around the Kaaba.

Risha is a journalist and news anchor from Jaipur and has previously worked with media organisations including NDTV and Zee News before joining TV9 Bharatvarsh.

⚠️ WHY WAS SHE REPORTEDLY DETAINED?

That remains unclear.

The reports currently available do not establish the reason for the reported detention. There is also no official Saudi statement in the sources I found explaining her status.

So for accuracy, this should be described as:

> “Risha Hussain is reportedly being detained, according to her family.”

🚆🇸🇦 SAUDI ARABIA ORDERS 20 NEW HIGH-SPEED TRAINS FOR HARAMAIN RAILWAY

A major expansion is coming to the railway connecting Makkah and Madinah

Saudi Arabia is expanding the Haramain High-Speed Railway, which connects the two Holy Cities of Makkah and Madinah, with the addition of 20 new high-speed trains from Spanish manufacturer Talgo.

The contract, announced on February 8, 2026, is valued at approximately €1.33 billion (about $1.57 billion) and includes the manufacture and maintenance of the new trains.

🚆 FROM 35 TRAINS TO 55

The Haramain railway currently operates a fleet of 35 Talgo trains. The additional 20 trains will increase the fleet to 55 trains.

Each train will have two power cars and 13 passenger coaches, with capacity for approximately 417 passengers in two classes. The trains will also include spaces for catering and passengers with reduced mobility.

⚡ UP TO 300 KM/H

The Haramain railway operates at commercial speeds of up to 300 kilometres per hour along a route of roughly 450 kilometres between the Holy Cities, with connections through Jeddah and the two major Jeddah-area stations.

The journey between Makkah and Madinah takes around two hours on direct services.

🕋 WHY THE EXPANSION MATTERS

The railway plays an important role in transporting pilgrims and visitors between Makkah and Madinah, particularly during Hajj and Umrah seasons.

During Hajj 1447 AH in 2026, the railway transported more than 1.16 million passengers through 5,569 trips, while peak operations reached 142 trips per day. Saudi Arabia Railways also reported an on-time performance rate above 98% during the Hajj operation.

The 20 additional trains are therefore intended to help Saudi Arabia accommodate growing passenger demand and expand the capacity of this important link between the two Holy Cities.

🇸🇦 A BIGGER HARAMAIN RAILWAY

Talgo says it will maintain the expanded fleet of 55 trains until 2033, with an option to extend the maintenance arrangement to 2038. The company also says the trains are designed for the demanding desert environment in Saudi Arabia.

The Haramain Railway continues to become one of the key modern transport systems serving pilgrims travelling between Makkah and Madinah. 🕋🚆🇸🇦
