Press Release: Congressman Riley M. Moore Applauds Passage of FY2027 National Security and State Department Appropriations Bill, Secures Key Wins to Protect Persecuted Christians and Advance America First Priorities

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Riley M. Moore applauded House passage of the Fiscal Year 2027 National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs (NSRP) Appropriations Act, legislation that advances President Trump's America First foreign policy agenda, includes important language to further Rep. Moore’s efforts to stop the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, strengthens U.S. national security, and defends American taxpayers by cutting federal funding for the third year in a row.

Congressman Riley M. Moore released the following statement:

"Christians in Nigeria continue to endure horrific violence, murder, and persecution while a majority of the world turns a blind eye to their suffering. President Trump has taken bold actions to strike the terrorists in Nigeria, and this bill sends a clear message that the United States will continue to stand with persecuted Christians across the globe, especially in Nigeria.

The bill conditions US assistance to Nigeria on tangible progress in protecting Christians, particularly in addressing the threat posed by Fulani terrorists and returning internally displaced people to their ancestral lands. The bill also provides funding to support training and increasing accountability for police forces in Nigeria, and reaffirms the recommendations made in my recommendations to President Trump.

This important bill also holds foreign governments accountable and ensures American taxpayer dollars advance our national interests. I was proud to secure provisions that strengthen accountability, combat human trafficking, protect free speech, push back on mass migration, and advance President Trump's America First foreign policy."

The bill provides $47.32 billion in discretionary funding while reducing overall spending by $2.69 billion below Fiscal Year 2026 levels. It prioritizes support for allies and counters threats posed by Communist China, Iran, the Taliban, and transnational criminal organizations. It also eliminates funding for numerous Biden-era programs centered on climate mandates, DEI initiatives, and radical gender ideology.

Congressman Moore, alongside NSRP Chairman Mario Diaz-Balart, secured several provisions in both the NSRP appropriations bill and the accompanying committee report focused on combating religious persecution, particularly against Christian communities in Nigeria.

Among Rep. Moore's victories are provisions conditioning 50% of U.S. assistance to Nigeria on measurable actions to U.S. assistance to Nigeria based upon Nigeria’s measurable actions to protect Christians against religiously-motivated violence. Rep. Moore also secured language prioritizing law enforcement partnerships with Nigeria, expanding efforts to prevent atrocities and human trafficking, documenting the effects of mass migration on host populations, protecting natural rights and national sovereignty initiatives, and preserving longstanding pro-life protections.

The legislation also includes language directing the State Department to report to Congress and the President on efforts needed to end targeted violence against Christians in Nigeria, dedicates funding to combat ritualized murder and organ trafficking in Africa, strengthens oversight of foreign assistance programs, and restricts the use of federal funds for censorship activities directed at American citizens.

Additionally, the bill maintains all longstanding pro-life protections, including the Helms, Kemp-Kasten, Siljander, Tiahrt, Hyde-Lantos, and other pro-life amendments.

The FY2027 NSRP Appropriations Act now advances as part of the House appropriations process for the upcoming fiscal year.

Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, said he has directed FAAN to fine Peter Obi N25,000 for wrongful parking at the Abuja airport. Keyamo further directed Peter Obi to render public apology.

Me: Inukwa! Obi was driven to the airport by his licensed driver. Why is Obi’s name being associated with a mistake made by his driver? Why would Keyamo ask Peter Obi to render an apology for an action committed by his driver. M@d people everywhere.

The establishment of state police is a welcome development. It will strengthen security across our various states.

There appears to be external influence affecting the use of force against Fulani jihadists operating in different parts of the country. State police can significantly help address this challenge.

The constitutional amendment should further provide that, once the law is passed and implemented, police officers should be required to return to and serve in their respective states of origin. Every officer would serve in his or her own state.

Such a policy could help reduce police extortion and harassment of citizens. It would be interesting to see how a man from Ubeku would extort or harass another person from Nkwa, knowing that they share the same community and social ties.

Just wondering how Tinubu sleeps at night.

Under his watch, a retired Army General was abducted, held captive for 14 days, and eventually killed. The kidnappers reportedly returned the General's remains to his family for burial and walked away boldly, unchallenged.

This is not the first time an Army General has been killed by terrorists under Tinubu's administration. Former President Obasanjo would never have tolerated such a situation under his watch. This is a national disgrace.

Then again, I ask myself: what efforts did the slain General make to eliminate these terrorists when he was in active service?

As 2026 FIFA World Cup Begins Today

Unfortunately, Nigeria did not qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Super Eagles finished behind South Africa in their CAF qualifying group and were forced into the African playoffs.

They advanced past Gabon but were then eliminated by DR Congo, missing out on a place at the tournament.

As a result, Nigeria will miss the FIFA World Cup for the second consecutive tournament, having also failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The 2026 World Cup, hosted by United States, Canada, and Mexico, begins today, 11th June 2026 with 48 teams participating.

The government of the day appears not to see the pain Nigerians go through on a daily basis, nor the emotional and psychological trauma that kidnapped schoolchildren endure every day in captivity.

How do President Tinubu and his wife, Remi Tinubu, sleep at night knowing that innocent children remain in the hands of kidnappers?

This is a country that was able to track and arrest Nnamdi Kanu in Kenya and bring him back home by all means necessary, including methods I can comfortably described as illegal. It is also a country that tracks and arrests Nigerians over social media posts.

Why then is the same energy not being deployed to track down and arrest kidnappers who continue to terrorize communities and hold innocent citizens hostage?
