Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian System (PMOS) aka Pi***ng Me Off Syndrome

For years, too many people have been told their symptoms were “normal,” “just stress,” “just weight,” or something to worry about only when they want to get pregnant.

Now, the name is finally catching up.

The shift from PCOS to PMOS was led by Professor Helena Teede and shaped by researchers, healthcare professionals, patient advocates, and people with lived experience. So no, this was not a random name swap. It came from years of asking: what does this condition actually affect, and how do we name it properly?

And while a new name won’t magically fix everything overnight (we wish), it does give us better language for the conversations people have been trying to have for years.

Because if the condition affects the whole body, the care should reflect that too.
