Part 5
After all the care and concern behind the advice, “Leave before he kills you,” there is a reality that is often ignored—the stigma that follows those who leave.
In many cases, the person who walks away must deal not only with the pain of a broken marriage but also with judgment from places of worship, criticism from family members, and whispers within the community.
Some are labeled impatient, rebellious, or lacking faith. Others are encouraged to return, regardless of the danger they escaped.
While it is important to protect lives and speak against abuse, it is equally important to create safe spaces where survivors are supported, not shamed.
The conversation should not stop at “Leave.” It should also include “How can we support, protect, and restore those who find the courage to leave?”

Part 4
After all the care and concern behind the words
“Leave before he kpai you,” have we stopped to
consider the stigma that often follows those who leave?
Leaving may save a life, but the journey
afterward can be filled with judgment,
rejection, and unanswered questions.
Who supports them when the dust settles?

Part 3
That is why the conversation should not end at “leave.” It should also include:
* Where can the person find safety?
* Who can provide temporary shelter?
* What family members, friends, faith leaders,
or community organizations can help?
* How can the person become financially stable?
* What legal or professional support is available?
At the same time, staying in a home where one’s life is in danger simply because there is nowhere else to go can have devastating consequences.
Perhaps the better message is:
“If your life is at risk, seek safety immediately. Reach out for help, make a plan, and don’t suffer in silence.
Your life matters, and there are people who can help you find a safe place and a way forward.”
Marriage is meant to be a place of love, peace, respect, and partnership—not a battlefield where survival becomes the daily goal.
Sometimes the hardest question is not “Leave to where?” but “If I stay, what will it cost me and my children?”

Part 2
When people say, “Leave before he kpai you,” it
often comes from a place of care and concern,
especially when there are signs of physical
violence, repeated abuse, or threats to life.
No marriage is worth losing your life over.
But the question, “Leave to where?” is also very real.
Leaving is not always as simple as walking out the door.
There may be children, financial dependence,
family pressure, fear, lack of support, or
nowhere immediately safe to go.

This will be in part
Part 1
A man pouncing his wife.
Whenever I come across posts that say, “Leave your marriage before the man kills you,” my heart feels heavy.
I often wonder: Is this advice coming from a place of love, care, or genuine concern for the person involved?
Then another question comes to mind:
Leave and go where?
It’s a question many people ask but few talk about.
Leaving may be necessary in some situations, but for many, the challenge isn’t just leaving—it’s finding a safe place to go, rebuilding a life, and starting over.
The conversation shouldn’t only be about leaving;
it should also be about the support, safety, and solutions available afterward.
May the Lord bless you, keep you, and grant
you peace that surpasses all understanding today and always. 🙏
Good Morning Famz
“The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”
— Numbers 6:24–26 (KJV)
