B@ndits Invade Kwara Community, Inj¥re Two Residents in Failed Attempt to Kidn@p Traditional Ruler

Suspected b@ndits on Thursday evening invaded Yaru community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State in an alleged attempt to kidn@p the Oniyaru of Yaru. The att@ck was, however, foiled by a combined team of local hunters, vigilantes and military personnel.

Security sources said the heavily armed att@ckers stormed the community with the apparent aim of abd¥cting the traditional ruler but were forced to retreat after encountering stiff resistance from security operatives and local volunteers.

Confirming the incident, a source said the b@ndits were successfully repelled, adding that two residents sustained inj¥ries during the att@ck.

The failed kidn@p attempt has reportedly left many residents frightened.

According to the source, the att@ckers fled after they were confronted by hunters, vigilantes and soldiers deployed to the area.

The incident occurred barely two days after another suspected b@ndit att@ck in the nearby Gaa Ogele community, where three people were reportedly kidn@pped, heightening concerns over the growing insecurity in parts of Ifelodun Local Government Area.

The back-to-back att@cks have heightened fear among residents of Yaru, Gaa Ogele and neighbouring communities, with many expressing concern over the increasing activities of suspected b@ndits in the area.

The wife of the Imo State Governor, Chioma Uzodimma, has advised men to take good care of their wives when they are financially comfortable, saying such love and care are often rewarded during difficult times.

Speaking in a message directed at men, Uzodimma said every woman wants the best for her husband and is more likely to remain supportive when challenges arise if she has been treated with love, care, and respect.

According to her, “To all the men out there, once you start making money, take good care of your wife because every woman wants the best for her husband. If you take care of your wife while you have money, when the chips are down, she will also take care of you.”

She, however, stressed that money should not be the foundation of a relationship, adding that “money is not everything.”
