_*IFRS 18 is changing the look of the P&L from 2027*_.

With operating, investing, and financing categories now required, it may start to feel a bit like a Cash Flow Statement. That said, it's still based on the accrual concept, so non-cash items like depreciation and amortization will remain part of the numbers.

We are definitely going to unlearn and relearn a lot

INVITATION TO THE CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA (CBN) MAY 2026 POST-MPC BRIEFING FOR ACADEMIA AND NES MEMBERS

Dear Esteemed Fellows, Distinguished Members of the Nigerian Economic Society, and Members of the Academic Community,

Greetings from the Office of the President.

As part of the ongoing collaboration between the Nigerian Economic Society (NES) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), I am pleased to invite you to a special Post-Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) Briefing organized by the Central Bank of Nigeria for members of the academic community and the Nigerian Economic Society.

The briefing follows recent engagements between NES and the CBN aimed at strengthening policy dialogue, enhancing stakeholder understanding of monetary policy decisions, and fostering greater collaboration between policymakers and academia.

The session will provide participants with an opportunity to receive first-hand insights into the decisions of the May 2026 Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) Meeting, the rationale underpinning those decisions, and their implications for the Nigerian economy. The interactive session will also provide a platform for participants to offer feedback and perspectives that may contribute to strengthening monetary policy formulation and implementation.

Date: Monday, 8 June 2026
Time: 10:00 a.m. (Prompt)
Venue: Virtual (Zoom)

The Zoom link and other participation details will be circulated shortly.

Given the importance of monetary policy developments to research, teaching, economic analysis, and policy discourse, all Fellows, NES members, Heads of Departments, lecturers, researchers, postgraduate students, and interested members of the academic community are strongly encouraged to participate.

We look forward to your active participation in what promises to be a highly informative and engaging policy dialogue.

With best regards,

Dr. Baba Yusuf Musa
President & Chairman Governing Council, Nigerian Economic Society (NES)
