‎To All Muslims in Jalingo, the Capital of Taraba State:
‎
‎Whoever attended Jumu‘ah and listened to the Imam’s khutbah would have heard this important message:
‎
‎It is henceforth forbidden for any household to hold “Kauyawa,” parties, “Ajo,” or any form of celebration during weddings here in Jalingo.
‎
‎Anyone who dares to do so will face the following measures:
‎
‎1. Imams will no longer officiate the marriage contract (Nikah) of that household.
‎
‎2. No scholar, male or female, will attend to deliver Islamic lectures (wa‘azin walīmah) in that household.

‎3. Funeral prayers (Salat al-Janazah) will not be offered for members of that household when death occurs.
‎
‎4. Naming ceremonies (Raɗin Suna) will not be attended in that household.
‎
‎Furthermore, any Imam or scholar who dares to participate in any of these functions after a household has violated this ruling will face disciplinary action, which could even lead to removal from his position as Imam.
‎
‎This ruling was jointly agreed upon by all the Imams of Jalingo under the Muslim Council, together with traditional rulers and with the support of the authorities.
