What really is a poem?

What does it mean
to be a poet?
Is ache the only thing
we’re meant to show it?

Is a poem where
all my thoughts belong?
Or do they need to fit inside a page,
neat and strong?

I don’t know
what I’m making right now.
Is this already a poem
somehow?

Should everything I feel
be here inside?
Or just the parts I manage to fit
in a paper’s size?

Does it
have to rhyme?
Do I need to spare
more time?

Or do I just
let it flow—
Like a river of words
learning to glow?

All these thoughts
I’ve come to know,
I never thought I could really
write a poem.

All this time
I’ve been wondering...
This is the poetry
I was done questioning.
