PNP-EOD/K9 GROUP ENHANCES DRONE OPERATIONS CAPABILITY THROUGH SPECIALIZED PILOT TRAINING

As part of the continuing modernization and capability enhancement program of the PNP-EOD/K9 Group under the leadership and initiative of PBGEN ROGELIO Z RAYMUNDO, JR, Director, PNP-EOD/K9 Group, personnel of the Explosive Incident Response Team (EIRT) participated in a Drone Pilot Skills Enhancement Training conducted at 1:00 PM on May 19, 2026.

The training was attended by PCpl Ruth Anne May Pascual of EIRT and facilitated by Pat Adriane Marc Lawrence Cabrera Daniel from RECU NCR, who shared technical knowledge and operational techniques in drone handling, aerial surveillance, and proper drone deployment during tactical and public safety operations.

This initiative forms part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to strengthen operational readiness through the enhancement of technological capabilities and the procurement of new drone equipment that will significantly improve monitoring, reconnaissance, documentation, and incident response operations of the unit.

The activity further reflects the commitment of the PNP-EOD/K9 Group in adapting to modern innovations and emerging technologies to ensure more effective and efficient law enforcement and public safety operations. Through continuous training and skills development, EIRT personnel are being equipped with the necessary expertise to maximize the use of drone technology in support of mission accomplishment and operational excellence.

In line with its commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining operational preparedness, the PNP-EOD/K9 Group immediately deployed its Explosive Incident Response Team (EIRT) to the Senate of the Philippines in Pasay City on the late evening of May 13, 2026.

The response team, led by PMAJ ALEJANDRO L PARTA, JR and PMAJ CARLO G SANTOS, departed from Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City at about 10:10 PM and arrived at the Senate at around 11:00 PM. Said operation was terminated at around 1:45 AM of May 14, 2026 by the District Director of SPD.

The deployed personnel were composed of:

Simultaneously, personnel of the Regional Explosives and Canine Unit – National Capital Region (RECU-NCR) at Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City, conducted personnel accounting at around 12:30 AM by PCOL SONNIE B OMENGAN, ACS and PCOL EDWARD D QUIJANO, Chief, EODOD to ensure that all personnel were accounted for and ready for immediate deployment.

At the same time, the EIRT Base at Camp Crame also conducted personnel accounting. PBGEN ROGELIO Z RAYMUNDO, JR, Director, PNP-EOD/K9 Group, together with PLTCOL ANDREI ANTHONY S MANGLO, Chief, EODMTD were present at the PNP Command Center (PCC) and monitored the situation alongside Senior Officers at the Higher Headquarters to confirm the operational readiness of all available personnel and resources.

This coordinated deployment and simultaneous personnel accounting highlight the PNP-EOD/K9 Group’s unwavering commitment to mission readiness, rapid response, and the protection of vital government institutions and the Filipino people.

Sa ilalim ng programa ng ating Chief PNP na Enhanced Managing Police Operations (PNP Focused Agenda), patuloy na nagsasagawa ng Drone Familiarization ang Duty EIRT na pinamumunuan ni PCMS Helbert C Abogado.

Layunin ng aktibidad na mapalawak ang kaalaman at kakayahan ng mga tauhan sa paggamit ng drone bilang bahagi ng makabagong tactical response, at magsilbing hakbang tungo sa mas pinahusay na kakayahan ng PNP-EOD/K9 Group sa epektibong pagtugon sa iba’t ibang sitwasyon.
