The Sierra Leone Police has commissioned the TOCU Forensic Laboratory at Hastings to strengthen scientific criminal investigations and improve the prosecution of serious crimes. The facility will analyze forensic evidence locally, reducing delays and enhancing investigations into offenses such as homicide and drug related crimes.

Head of the laboratory, Assistant Superintendent of Police Stevens Joseph, said the lab will identify and analyze chemical substances to determine their composition and purity. National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Director Andrew Jaiah Kai Kai described the facility as a timely boost to national security while stressing the need to strengthen border security. Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu hailed the laboratory as a major milestone for the force and pledged continued support for its development. Police leadership assured the public that the laboratory will operate with strict professional standards to ensure timely and fair justice.
