🛑 BREAKING: Gatwech Lam Tells Court Prosecution Is Implicating Him Without Evidence

Juba, South Sudan | June 24, 2026

Gatwech Lam Puoch, the third accused in the trial involving Dr. Riek Machar and others, told the Special Court in Juba that prosecutors are attempting to link him to the Nasir violence without credible evidence.

During the 91st court session at Freedom Hall, Lam denied allegations that he described the Agwelek and Abushok forces as militias, saying he only referred to them as forces that had not been integrated into the SSPDF under the R-ARCSS.

He argued that the prosecution's own evidence and witness testimonies contradict the accusations against him and claimed the term "militia" was instead used by Gen. James Koang Chuol and Gen. Johnson Olony while addressing forces in Malakal.

Presiding Judge James Alala Deng adjourned the proceedings until Friday, June 26, when Lam is expected to continue presenting his defense.

🛑 BREAKING: SSPM Accuses Juba of Using “Gaat Tutdeal Strategy” to Secure Another Extension

Juba, South Sudan | 23rd June 2026

The South Sudan People's Movement (SSPM) has accused the Juba regime of employing what it calls the “Gaat Tutdeal Strategy” — a political maneuver aimed at securing another extension of power under the pretext of preparing for elections.

According to the movement, the announcement of December 22, 2026 elections is merely a façade intended to justify a future postponement and prolong the current transitional government.

SSPM argued that key requirements for credible elections, including a permanent constitution, voter registration, census, constituency delimitation, and unified security forces, remain unmet. The movement described the R-ARCSS as defunct and called for an inclusive national dialogue involving all stakeholders.

“The regime never wanted the cow's legs (elections); it only wanted a share of the feast (extension),” the statement said.

SSPM warned that South Sudanese and the international community should reject what it described as “a dangerous parody of democracy masquerading as governance.”

🛑 BREAKING: SPLM/A-IO Warns Voter Registration Teams Against Entering Its Controlled Areas

Juba, South Sudan | 23rd June 2026

Acting SPLM/A-IO Chairman Rt. Hon. Nathaniel Pierino has declared that the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement (R-ARCSS) is "broken and abrogated," warning that holding elections under the current circumstances would plunge South Sudan into deeper chaos.

Pierino warned that anyone involved in voter registration or election campaigns in territories controlled by the SPLM/A-IO would be treated as prisoners of war and could face death, arguing that the country is already in a state of war.

He accused the SSPDF of attacking SPLM/A-IO cantonment and training centers established under the peace agreement and claimed that fighting continues with both sides gaining and losing territory.

Pierino said the movement is awaiting the outcome of the African Union Special Envoy's visit to Juba and announced that a State of the Nation Address would soon be delivered to respond to what he described as "lies" by the SPLM-IG and SSPDF.

Warrap State, South Sudan | 23rd June 2026

The Apuk-Juwiir community of Tonj South County has issued a 72-hour ultimatum demanding the withdrawal of security forces and personnel allegedly deployed to the disputed Didar mining site.

They called on President Kiir to establish an investigation committee and convene an urgent meeting with community leaders and lawmakers, warning that while they do not seek conflict, they are prepared to defend their resources if their concerns are ignored.
