🚨 Attorney General Sam Mayanja says the government will not gazette Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma as the new King of Tooro until the dispute over the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV’s successor is resolved.

Mayanja said the Babiito elders’ declaration of Kijanangoma does not end the dispute, arguing that the matter should be settled by court.

He also explained that he stopped the customary throwing of nine coffee beans into King Oyo’s grave during the burial because the ritual signifies the confirmation of a new king, yet Kijanangoma’s succession remains contested.

“Even in the case of the late Olimi Kaboyo, a similar contest was there and it was only afterwards that baby Oyo threw in the coffee beans,” he said.

This Bishop wedded yesterday in a civil marriage at KASESE District headquarters. Immediately after the wedding ceremony, the couple embarked on a journey to Kampala for honey moon. When they reached Buloba, they got an accident and the woman died on spot. It's said that the woman had had an earlier holy matrimony in Anglican church with another man and they had five children. Her wedding to another man was done in top secrecy. She will be buried tomorrow in kinyabakazi at the home of her first husband. The first husband is the chairperson LC 1 of Kinyabakazi. The deceased was a bishop in the Pentecostal churches and had a church opposite Nyamwamba division offices. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
