Welcome to our little farm, Periwinkle the lamb!

This guy is only 8 weeks old. I was told that he’s been separated from his mom since he was just a week old. He was from a small farm that was moving and selling off all of their animals. The person who took him used him in a petting zoo for the first weeks of his life. He lived with a rabbit and was getting bottles of milk and rabbit pellets for food. He had no name, just a little guy needing some larger animal friends and a family to care for him.

I was told that Periwinkle is a babydoll sheep crossed with Welsh? He seems like he’ll be a bigger guy than a babydoll to me so curious what that actual cross was. We’ll be turning him into a wether soon and he will be a pet. I’m hoping to learn a lot by caring for him and seeing if sheep are something we could raise on the farm one day.

Periwinkle has been a sweetheart and likes to hang out with the goat babies. If you know anything about sheep, drop your best guess as to what breed of sheep you think Periwinkle is.

Dreams do come true!! Welcome to the farm, Pancakes and Waffles! They are both registered mini Nubian doelings and they are 8 weeks old! We visited them when they were just two weeks old, and made a little family road trip out of it. They are from just east of Colorado Springs, so we visited Garden of the Gods on our drive out to see them. I’m excited to learn how to care for them. Eventually they can become dairy goats but for now they will help us by eating all of the brush and weeds on the property.

Introducing our baby chicks! Here are a few photos of them at only 5 days old. Their little fluffy feathers are so cute. We also tried some knit hamster hats on them, which they absolutely hated. We only had them on for 1 min and then never again, poor chicks!

We’ve been quiet for a bit, but it’s because we moved! This was our first time moving with little kids, and this move seemed much bigger than anything we’ve done in the past. I’m very thankful for our family who helped us out a ton over the holiday break. I haven’t been able to make soap yet, but I plan to in a month. I’m looking forward to sharing more of our home, but it’s not quite finished.

I’ll share more soon! - Lauren

We had a wonderful weekend at our local school’s holiday market. I brought all of my holiday soaps and candles, and thought I’d made plenty but to my surprise, we sold out! Thank you to my family who helped to make the market happen! It was a very busy week with getting everything ready and we got our first big snow of the season! I’m still surprised that I have nothing left to sell or to use for gifts. I’ll for sure pan to make more next year!
