Summer camp is over, but school hasn’t started quite yet… so guess who’s back at the Essential Journeys® studio? 💜

Olivia is spending a few of her last summer days helping us package bath salts, earning a little extra spending money, and getting us ready for the busy fall season.

There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes of a small business before one of our products ever lands on your doorstep. Mixing, pouring, packaging, labeling, tying, boxing… and sometimes it takes a few extra hands to make it all happen.

We’re happy to have these hands back in the studio! 🛁✨

And yes, while I’m away adventuring, the Essential Journeys® crew will still be here making, packing, and shipping your orders every business day.

This is my dad in our backyard in the early 1980s. 🐝

Long before there was Essential Journeys®, before there was L**e for the Lips®, there were bees.

Growing up, I watched my dad care for his hives with incredible patience. We also had a huge vegetable garden, and just beyond our backyard was a florist with acres of flowers. It was a wonderful place for honeybees.

Years later, when I created my very first batch of L**e for the Lips®, using beeswax wasn’t just a formula decision. It felt like bringing a piece of my childhood into something I hoped other people would enjoy.

Twenty years later, beeswax is still at the heart of every tube we make. Looking back at this photo reminds me that some of the best ideas don’t start in a laboratory. Sometimes they begin in your own backyard.

Twenty Years of the Journey

Every journey leaves its mark.

When I started Essential Journeys®, I wanted a logo that reflected the things I loved most: travel, nature, handcrafted products, and timeless design.

Over the years, the logo has evolved just as the company has evolved. Looking back, it's fun to see how each version captured a different chapter of the journey.

Chapter One • The Beginning

The original Essential Journeys® logo drew inspiration from the flowing lines and botanical elegance of the Art Nouveau movement, particularly the work of Alphonse Mucha. His artwork celebrated craftsmanship, nature, and beauty, values that have always been at the heart of Essential Journeys®.

The bicycle has been there from the very beginning, representing my love of travel and the belief that life's best journeys often begin with simple adventures.

Chapter Two • The Journey

As Essential Journeys® grew from a small soap studio into a botanical skincare company, I found myself refining almost everything...our products, packaging, photography, website, and eventually the logo itself.

This version became cleaner and more contemporary while staying true to the spirit of the original. Looking back, I can now see places where the lettering could be more balanced, the bicycle could become more integrated, and the overall composition could be more refined.

Sometimes the journey teaches you what couldn't have been seen at the beginning.

Chapter Three • A New Chapter

After many years, it finally felt like the right time to refine the logo once more.

The bicycle remains because travel continues to inspire everything we do.

The botanical influence remains because nature is still at the heart of every product we create.

The lettering has been carefully refined to create a stronger, more timeless mark that works beautifully everywhere, from tiny lip balms and lotion bottles to our website and social media.

This isn't a new company.

It's simply a better reflection of who Essential Journeys® has become.

Inspired by travel. Rooted in botanicals. Made for everyday rituals.
