Every jar is handmade in small batches and carefully sealed with a tamper-evident seal before it makes its way to you.

We use whole plants rather than essential oils, giving our tallow a naturally subtle scent instead of an overpowering fragrance, making it a beautiful option for sensitive skin.

And because tallow is naturally rich in emollient properties, it helps soften and smooth those rough, dry spots while leaving your skin feeling nourished and moisturized. ✨

Dry rendering vs. wet rendering is something tallow makers have gone back and forth about for a long time.

I don’t think dry rendering is wrong. If you’re experienced and know what you’re doing, you can absolutely make beautiful tallow that way.

But for my skincare, I choose to wet render.

The reason is purification. I don’t believe a dry render separates and removes impurities in quite the same way that wet rendering does. With water and salt, I can encourage the impurities to separate from the fat and settle below it, leaving me with a cleaner starting point for the next rendering.

And this is where crafter experience matters the most.

I’ve wet rendered tallow so many times that I know what I’m looking for. I know how the fat behaves, how it changes throughout the process, and, most importantly, how to tell when the water has been properly removed from the finished tallow.

I’m making something for your skin, not something to cook with, so I take the purification process seriously.

There isn’t just one “right” way to make tallow. But there is a right way to learn your process, understand your ingredients, and know what you’re looking for in the finished product. 🌺

Why does water bead on tallow-treated skin?

It’s not magic, it’s skin science. 🐄✨

Tallow is naturally rich in lipids that are similar to those found in our skin’s own protective barrier. As an emollient, it helps soften and smooth the skin, while its occlusive properties create a protective layer over the surface that helps slow transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

That protective layer is why you can see water visibly bead up on the skin rather than immediately soaking in.

Think of it as a little extra support for your skin barrier: softening + conditioning + protecting without relying on a complicated ingredient list.

Healthy skin needs lipids. Tallow is a simple, naturally lipid-rich way to give your skin some of them. 🤍

Occlusive Emollient

Many tallow brands, cut corners by adding essential oils to their formulation. And I don’t blame them. It’s an easy way to predictably add a scent profile to the product. however, this can be problematic for people with allergies because the product is so potent. If one is switching to tallow to avoid synthetic ingredients and improve skin sensitivity, using essential oils really doesn’t make sense because they are some of the strongest potent ingredients out there that can cause allergic reactions ! that’s why I completely omit essential oils in my formulations and I use flower infusions instead.

This was an older graphic I made! We have newer infusions still made with organic ingredients. Just check the label! We are working on converting to all organic herbs. Our suet will always be from family owned farms so they do not have an organic label, as that is two cost intensive for a family owned farm. I source my suet from grass fed and regenerative farms here in MD.
